Does anyone know we can get to see Steam Boy over here?
It should be due out in a small amount of UK cinemas later this year! Don't expect to see a UK DVD release, however, until very early next year, unless we don't get a cinema release at all, in which case "Steamboy" will come direct to DVD towards the end of 2005!
Cheers Pooch, was hoping I would be able to see it in one of the local multiplex but more than likely it will be an independent cinima that picks it up.
It was on at the recent London sc-fi film festval but all showings were sold out
Steamboy: Director's Cut is coming out on R2 DVD on 6th June 2005.
At Play.com for £24.99.
I'm really ****** off that since I moved to the UK, nothing ever gets released over here, or not properly ><;
In France we get all these great anime movies just afew months after the original JP release!!! Take Howl no ugoku shiro, it was released in France in January, and steamboy back in November...
I suspect the R2UK DVD to be the same as the R2 French DVD which is due to release next month... or is already released, I forgot, but without any english I suspect.
there is a pirate version with english subtitles , so it must be released somewhere already/soon?
The French DVD is out. I can't tell if there are any english subs included though.
a serach has thrown up that no - no english subs on french version.
UK version out about 6th June.
CD WOW have the directors cut encoded by superbit for £12.99 and Play has the normal version at £14.99 and Directors cut Limited Edition for £24.99.
CD WOW looks the better deal.
Does anyone if there is any difference between the Limted directors cut and directors cut?
I have just recieved an email from CD WOW my copy is in the post.
Cool, CD WOW are quoting 5-7 days delivery
Why are they so slow, are they using pideons to post their mail????
much (all?) of their stuff is shipped from HK (as in Asia) - may be that's why
Poor pidgeons, thats a long way....
That would explain why, I didn't know that. Cheers for the info
If it was sent today when do you recon we will get it. I have only ever ordered from CD-WOW a few times and I can't recall it taking very long.
Mine has been posted too .
I usually receive my orders from CD-WOW within three days of dispatch.
Cool 3 days isnt to bad. I'm looking forward to seeing this DVD.
Got my E-mail to.
My copy was delivered this morning, I can't wait to watch it
Same here I got mine this morning as well. A plesant surprise
Cd-wow are a great company to buy from, their customer service is really good too.
Razor, please let us know what you think of the film, when you've watched it.
Will do, I'm looking forward to it. Pleased that it is SUPERBIT encoded so picture & sound quality should be very good (5.1 DTS)
I'm quite excited about the 5 part making of Steamboy documentaries too
Dvd soon have some good deals on anime at the moment, especially with icard discount.
Elfen lied vol 1 £7-ish, £10-ish with collectors box (looks amazing)
Ghost in the shell SAC vols 1-7 around £8.50 each
Bubblegum Crisis 2040 essential anime 2 disk sets £5.20
dai guard complete set 6 disks £17
+loads more all cheaper with icard.
Watched the DVD but for some reason when I select English DTS it only shows up as DD on the control screen on my system, and it starts off with the DD intro instead of a DTS intro.
Anyone else ?
I got the same, I thought it was because I was using my pc and one of settings weren't correct. I will try it out on my dvd player to see if I get the same.
Did not notice any dts problems, apart from being bloody loud.
Sorry i wanted to like the film, but i was left bored. 10 years in the making, and most expensive
Not a patch on appleseed. Sorry. And where was the superbit picture?, maybe it was for sound only. The PQ was nothing special. At times murky and noisy, fitting for the victorian era maybe.
Did you get a DTS intro before the film started?
Although I havent watched it yet, I skimmed though it looking a picture quality and I have to agree it was nothing special.
I got the dts intro 'the dvd cd image' and all the dts sound fx, 'this theatre features dts' intro all in dts
It then went to dd for the copyright text stuff for a few secs, and then back to dts when the film started.
The DTS on mine is fine, I've not had chance to watch it yet though.
Did anybody like the film?
