I was looking through the threads the other night and followed a link to an Austrailian web site ( i thought it was ezy dvd's but its not ) and saw in the '' just released '' section that the original starwars trilogy was on dvd, the reason for this was that they had been copied from laser disc and supposed to be very good copies and sound, a good buy in my eyes. Anyway i was wondering if anyone else has heard of these and weather i should stay clear of them or not and if anyone has seen these to let me now were.

Take this with caution but I sent a friend of mine the DVDs from Malaysia (cost about GBP4 each) last year and he was very satisfied. They are pirates from LD and not perfect but they are currently the best available on DVD and come with 5.1 surround sound. Your call ...

The one good thing about watching the dreadful Phantom Menace was it made me realise how good the original Star Wars films were. Does anyone know when the original 3 films are coming out on DVD? This question has probably been asked already, but I'm fairly new to these forums.

I think the use of computer graphicss on Phantom Menace was overdone. Nothing actually looks real and the film gets pretty tedious after about half an hour. Good sound but that's about it. I actually found the extras (documentaries etc) on the Phantom Menace DVD more interesting than the film itself.

    RDB :)

The original three will be released in 2006, after the next two episodes.

By which time Sky would have shown them 1000000000 times, thus undermining and reducing them to a 'oh no not them again' level.
Plus they will look even more dated than they do now!

Just hope they don't get their mits on the Indy films or Grease.

Does anyone know the reason for the long delay?

    'The bearded one's' heavy workload.
i.e. he's working on Episode 2 and 3 and has no time to comit himself to the Star Wars DVDs.
    Obviously hasn't heard of delegation.

You mean, he's fixing the old ones to fit the continuity errors that he introduced with the new series. And we are supposed to believe that he had the story for all 6 written back in the 70's? Hehehe, pull the other one, george, it's got bells on it. :D
