I have just obtained the StarWars Trilogy on DVD. Having been surprised all along that these fine special effects were NOT available on DVD. Being old and contrary [many years ago I was young and contrary!], I had decided not to get the newer episodes until after the first were available. So now I will get the others.

Query: There are three notions of chronology which apply yo StarWars; i) date of release ii) position in the overall story and iii) the numeral applied to the episode. The latter two may well coincide as far as I know, but certainly they do not match the first. If yawl have worked this out I'd appreciate a road map.

I might add, that I put together my home theater about two years ago using many posts on what to do. I've made few posts since because I have been overwellmingly satisfied with the result. Basically CambridgeSoundWorks Newton, top Onkyo, and a Sony XBR36.

    Thanks for any attention.

Watching from episode I would be the obvious chronicological order to watch them, the only problem is that no one yet knows the blanks that are yet to be filled in, in Episode III.
Otherwise, watching Eps IV, V and VI first is how most of us have previously viewed the trilogy.

Just watch IV, V, VI. then rent I and II before seeing III at cinema.

You can live without buying eps I and II. I is awful. II is slightly less awful.

There is an ep which seems to be used by lots of home cinema shops to demo kit. Which one is it.

And... I have the trilogy - which bits from the trilogy do you recommend for a great demo?

Hope I'm not hijacking the thread too much!! :)
