Starter projector set up

I have about £250/300 to spend on a set up for my bedroom. The first floor is partially in the eaves so the top 1.10m of the wall is sloped and would make an ideal space for watching a movie with my kids.
It's only about 2.60 between where the projector and screen will be. I have seen an article on here suggesting that with my budget and size of room, a screen may not have a huge impact on the overall quality of the image? Would I be better investing more in the projector and waiting for a screen if I upgrade in the future?
Can anyone recommend a projector or projector/screen in my budget?

Thanks!

'I have about £250/300 to spend on a set up for my bedroom' - that is a seriously limited budget for any form of projection system if you plan to use HDMI source devices and that is before you start worrying about audio!

Yeah, I totally get that. I'm a full time student and single mum of two girls, and would love to snuggle up with them and watch a movie in bed (but I don't want a TV in my bedroom).
Budget is what it is.
Do you think it's not worth bothering?

It is always worth 'bothering' - you may have to hustle to find some old kit which is being ditched as purchasing new is not going to be an option for you.

Some pics or a rough sketch of the room would be handy and don't rule out a TV as that may be the best option for you, with a bit of ingenuity you can hide it away when not in use.

Projectors are great but keep in mind that, unlike a TV, they have a lamp which is replaceable and most lamps will cost you £100 or more to replace!

Depending on where you are there are some groups who specialise in saving old kit from skips.
