its a nuisance of a program isnt it!!!!

Having removed any trace i could find of it, i also couldnt stop it mysteriously appearing (of course any attempt to exit it would then cause problems since it technically isnt there....). There has to be a more scientific method but if i recall i went into msconfig and stopped the kazzaa thing starting at boot up and from that located where the files responsible were hiding....... from there i had no more problems until the kind sibling who put it on in the first place decided to put it back

In options of Kazaa, start up with windows.

Also check the startup folder in the Start button.

Try clicking on the start button, and open a 'run' window. Type 'msconfig' and press enter. Click on the tab on the far right. This shows you what programs are loaded on start-up, so just uncheck kazaa for example, then click apply. These settings will be initialised once the PC is restarted.

Not sure if this is what you wanted, hope it helps.

If you've deleted all traces of it from your PC, but it's still "lurking" (which is what I think you're saying!), then I'd suggest downloading, and running a programme like Reg Cleaner. It sifts through your registry and searches for any invalid items that still exist - you can then choose whether or not to delete the offending items :) There's a chance that it's a "wayward" registry entry that's causing the problem :(

I run this programme every now and then and it's amazing what items remain on your system after you get rid of them - a very worthwhile tool in my opinion :) :smashin:

Use registry editor (Start->Run-> Type in Regedit press Enter)

    Look for the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    Should be something like this:
    KAZAA C:\Program Files\KaZaA Lite\Kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

    Delete the key.
You can search the registry for any other occurrence of "KAZAA"

    Tip for the future:

Always make sure you completely shut down the program you want to uninstall BEFORE you uninstall it ;)
