anyone got this and able to confirm if it is better than the regular Reg 1 version. I've heard that it's a high definition transfer and is stunning to look at..would love to hear some views..:)

I´m in the same boat as you, bearing in mind the original R1 version is supposed to be superb.

Might just order it to find out!!

    Yeah, I have both.

THe first one had quite a few extras with it anyway, although I wouldn't have said th PQ was that great. and it isn't anamorphic.

The new one is in a cardboard case, but looks nice. a few more extra's - a documentary, and special effects stuff. commentarys look to be the same.

    This one is apparently anamorphic.
I'll post more once it has got dark enough to compare them through the projector.

The transfer on the original R1 version of Starship Troopers is definitely anamorphically enhanced and has always been regarded as being of reference quality. The new release is also anamorphically enhanced, and may well use the same transfer as the initial release.

I liked the replacement R2 disk recently released.
got it from HMV for a tenner back in January.

Nice crisp picture and good sound (no DTS though).

    Regards

Play incorrectly lists Driven, Superman 1-4 (Warner Bros), Rush Hour 2 (New Line) and all of the SuperBit titles as RCE. They don't seem to be a particularly reliable source for RCE information.

Based on the A/B comparison shots I saw on AVS I would say the new version is much better. I have the new version but not the old one. PQ is very good most of the time but does have the odd poor bit.

So can anyone say for definite that this title is NOT RCE?

Whilst we are on the subject, is the new Memento spec ed RCE as well?

    Thanks.

Thanks Jim. I have ordered it from Future Ent (£12.99). They also say that it may have RCE but I am taking your word for it! ;)

Hmm, why do I still not think the first R1 is anamorphic?

anyway, only watched scenes from this new version, and on my projector it looks a lot better. colour seems much more vivid, and in general a lot brighter, if that makes sense. lines seem sharper as well.

I don't think it is RCE, but not sure how to tell. It certainly doesn't say RCE anywhere on the case.

Fair set of extras as well, although the 10 mins of casper and dina commentary demonstrates how they'll never progress to having their own chat show!
