isn't it amazing how many new characters are played by actors from cancelled SF shows? in SG 1 we've got Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Farscape and the girl that played Andromeda in, er, Andromeda. now in SG Atlantis, we've got assistant director Skinner himself! are there any others that i've missed?

That's not the only thing, Note the number of ex-Goa'uld actors in The Chronicles of Riddick. :D

Some actors seem to specialize in scifi roles. Are you saying that after leaving (due to one reason or another) one scifi series that they shouldn't be in another?

no, i'm not saying that at all. i've always enjoyed seeing an actor from a favourite show turn up as a guest in another. it's just a little distracting when suddenly half the cast remind you of other shows, and, more significantly, characters. you keep expecting claudia black and ben browder to get it on! :D
i'm sure after a couple of episodes they'll blend in, it's just very noticeable to have so many turn up at the start of the series.

and there was mulder in Space: Above and Beyond. Krychek from the x-files is in load of stuff, and Armin Shimmerman (Quakr of DS9) pops up very frequently.

even actors have to pay the mortgage!

Jeffrey Combs of Reanimator fame turns up in lots of them! Prominent roles in DS9 and Enterprise and recently on the 4400.
Also does the voice of The Question in Justice League Unlimited which is excellent.
Lots of other famous voices on that series:
    -Mark Hamill
    -Clancy Brown
    -Dennis Haysbert
just to name a few that I can remember.
