Me too booked them at midnight last night for the 0615 AM showing on the 19th May, taking my dad to see the last one as he took me to see the first one when I was 8, 28 years ago  Just didn't think it would be on this early :)

Only "a bit" sad. You guys do realise it will be showing at fifteen minute intervals on every screen the multiplexes can throw at it for four months after release. :D

The original was the first film I saw as a six-year old back in '77. I've been waiting for this for years. So what if we're a bit sad. There are a lot more worse things a person could do. There's nothing wrong with having a passion for something.

Yes. Definitely agree with that. Regardless of the quality of the actual movies I think Duel of the Fates frm EpI and Across the Stars from EpII were some of Williams' best ever work...

A word of caution in that while the rating is still pending (most are treating it as PG tbc but it could well get a 12A, as happened with The Two Towers) there could be interesting situations with preorders... also the running time is being guessed at so with the larger multiplexes their promises of shows every quarter of an hour could get unstuck if the film is longer or prints are sparser than anticipated... Lucasfilm hasn't even issued a final word on whether it will only allow the film to be shown in THX rated screens yet, which could mess up several multiplexes (no chain names mentioned, although no doubt many of you will be familiar!) as the reflection of their emergency lights on the screens messes with the contrast enough to deny them THX ratings...

Personally am not entirely sure what to do yet... will probably wait a coupla weeks then go for a late-night show to avoid the masses of a) the bad sort of fanboys (the sort who believe they have a right to give commentary, wave light sabers during the films, etc) b) the tiny kids for whom the film really isn't suitable but who have been dragged there by irresponsible parents and c) chavs...

Either that or take a trip to the West End :)

    Are you sure about that?
EPII was first shown at Odeon and looked amazing - sound isn't too good at either of these though.

Wasn't there something recently about a UCI/Odeon merger being approved by Monopolies & Mergers? Could explain Ep 3 at Empire... saw Ep 1 at a sold out Odeon (Mezzanine? The huge one) and the atmosphere alone made it a fantastic experience, would love to recreate something like that :)
