This is a daft question is the Original Trilogy worth getting on DVD in there current form. I also heard that there are sound issues with "A New Hope" I have heard the Trilogy is getting re-released either 2006/7 and they may tinker with the movies again  !!!!

They are certainly decent enough. It comes down to whether or not you want to enjoy the movies now, or wait a year or so. Would you put off buying a TV, amplifier, DVD player etc because there will be a better one next year? If that was the case, we would never buy anything as all things progress.

Even if he releases an updated 6 disc set, there will always be a hddvd or blu ray set to follow.

£29.99 at play.com for 3 movies with a decent extras disc.

bishman point taken, as everyone waited a long time for them to get to DVD I think I will buy them.
You are right of course they will probably end up being released 2006/7 as hd-dvd or blu-ray, then we will have to buy them again :D

I'm waiting for the next incarnation (or at least a decent 6-film set) but then I've already got the VCD set so am in no rush. You pays yer money... :)

There is an offer on at present, where if you go and see the latest Star Wars Film, you can get £7.50 off the price of the Trilogy set. I just got one today from Tesco's for £22.49. Not a bad offer, if you are still in the market for these films.

Yup. I've seen the new ones (both my Dad and my other half have the OT) and the gains are certainly good but not worth my own expenditure. I can see the films and I'm happy with that. :)
