I was born in 1970 and when star wars came out i was blown away .when empire came out i had matured and loved it even more as it had a bit more detail in it and i understood the feelings and emotions delt with in empire.
so empire became my favourite film.
Then return came out ,now i was older and thought what a load of crud ,why has mr lucas done this its a cheesy kiddy film with furry ewoks.

now im getting on a bit and no film after the wait could meet the expectation and i liked bits of phantom then the clone wars came out and again i watched it and i liked it but not as much as i had hoped .well the other day i watched the return of the jedi on video tape...yes do you remember video tape and i found myself enjoying it.this film i hated not 10 years ago now i was enjoy it as a film.
your own mind is the best theatre or script you can get and the films can never live up to your own ideas but if you give them a chance there not bad .I have downloaded the trailers and seen the leeked photos and i do have high hopes for the revenge of the sith but i wont be as hard on it as i once might have been.

now the matrix sequels well thats a different matter....

I remember back in olden days when I were a lad, we used to get on our bikes, brave the cobbled streets and go to Mr Porter's house where he used to have that new fangled electric-trikery. 'E used to show us a his new movie projector. By 'eck it were great. We used to watch Charlie Chaplin - before 'e made talkies (and Mr Porter's home movies which I didn't understand). Them were t' days. Nowadays I can't stand the noise - things t'were better in them silent days.
    (sorry couldn't resist :) )

I'm the same with you on the return of the Jedi - I didn't think it was that bad - gotta love those ewoks. Not too sure on the new ones though.

(Btw this is my 100th post - breaks out pretend bubbly and offers it to imaginery friends)

The matrix sequels weren’t that bad. When seeing the movies in the cinema I was a bit disappointed but I’ve since come to enjoy them since their dvd release and even more since I took hold of the ultimate matrix boxset. Some worthwhile features to watch!

As far as movies go - I have never been as let down and gutted asI felt when watching both Phantom Menace and Clone Wars. Lucas really blew it big time for me with these films (lets face it anyone with money can get the best CGI, and with arguably the biggest franchise in the world it was IMHO an embarrassment to Episodes 4-6) He's really going to have to pull it out the bag for Ep3. Still, this time I will go with low expectations so I could be pleasantly surprised.

At 10 I liked girls and liked kissing them so the romance in Empire seemed relevant . (i was married and a dad at 16)

My original point is that i often judged a film by "where i was" and what it meant to me at that point.I hated Return of the jedi then but now i can appreciate it better and now see it as a ok film.

I wasnt initially impressed with ep1,2 but after giving them a second and third chance they are good.I cant wait for ep3 and i hope it as good as i hope but i will give it several viewings before i make up my mind if its as good as empire.

Don't worry Enquirer - my stock answer for Star Wars (when asked if I like it) is :-

"Star Wars was great when I was 7. But I'm not 7 anymore."

Its a bit like those old spectrum games you reminisce about and when you actually play them again, boy are they rubbish!

Sill I am looking forward to seeing this, in hope, more than anything else!

I notice that the book of the film is out so has anyone bothered to read it???

I love my old spectrum 48k. Never had the bottle to plug it up though as I'm happy with these rose-tinted memories I have of it!

I remember there was a script of the film lying around the internet somewhere. Didn't read it as I didn't want to spoil it for myself, even though we all know what's pretty much going to happen!

    last spoiler!!! beware.

there is going to be an overly complicated and long piece of scrolling text at the start of the film which will try and tie it in with the other two. I think the film is also produced by some obscure independent film company called lucasfilm and is distributed by its brother company 20th century fox, I personally have never heard of either of them so I dont think the quallity of the presentation is going to be very good. Will probably have a very low budget and very poor CGI. In fact I doubt the effects will be any where near as good as that little movie that was shot in newzeland, oh , you know the one, it had a wizard called soundalf or boundalf or something. It featured some elvis's haveing some adventures. :D

Well I'm going to go and see Episode3, and I'll probably enjoy it more than most of the other science fiction dross that's been released recently. Looking forward to Hitchhikers too. Not so sure about War of the Worlds though...
