it looks like, due to the success of the indiana trilogy(pre orders)
Lucas Film have desided to release the original SW trilogy some time in 2004:clap:

It is unknown if it is to be the theatrical release or special edition.
But i think most fans know which they would preffer!

Where are you getting this information, I have spoken with Fox recently and they deny any such release is being considered.

AFAIK the *Original* trilogys no longer exist.
The Special Editions are Lucas´s final cuts of the movies.

Although as much of a purist as I am I don´t dislike the Special Editions and would much enjoy a 4 disc release of these ala Indiana Jones :)

it is doubtful that these will appear before episode 3 is released on DVD.

The rumours are doubtless circulating because Lucasfilm etc are in pre-production, discussions and gathering material for the original trilogy.

My bet is that we will see all new versions (with new material to reflect events of episodes 1 to 3) on DVD in 2006!!

dont really care, think they are over rated anyway. they hold a place in peoples hearts that is totally unjustified. when the beared one's bank balance drops below $4 billion and he's on his uppers and broke - he'll release them.

    http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html

    Also the following:

"At the recent DVD conference in L.A., I spoke with Lucasfilm's Jim Ward, who predictably wouldn't discuss the DVD release plan for the original Star Wars films, other than to say that they WOULD be released on DVD at some point. He did, however, say that Episode III was being well documented for DVD, and he once again noted that the original theatrical versions of these films no longer exist - the new SEs are George's ultimate vision for these films."

    I just grabbed from here:

    http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=277

But I can remember reading it elsewhere before ....

Anything I hear regarding Star Wars I take with a pinch of salt anway.

This would suggest that FOX were uncertain of Star Wars' popularity and were using the Indy set as a tester?!? I doubt it somehow.
