    I doubt it.
If Lucas had authorised a High Def broadcast of the original movies on probably a US channel then that would have been pretty big news. I have totally faith that eventually they will be sold on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray in a couple of years then turn up on broadcast television. It would not be in his nature to pass up a chance to make more money by withholding HD copies until the market was strong enough:)

Someone on another forum thought they were probably Laserdisc copies which have been labelled HD either thorugh mischief or blissful ignorance:)

Yep, saw that posted a while back but wasn't tempted, I wouldn't have thought it possible a decade ago that being such a fan of Star Wars that I wouldn't have the new movies on vhs or dvd:(
Well I do have the fan remake/re-edit of episode 1 without jar-jar:)

I believe dvdmike was referring to the other original trilogy (eps 4,5 and 6) in high def, I assume he was anyway.

the hdtv ones other than AOTC were taken from german HDTV(not that i knew they had it over there!) but they were the SE's and included german 5.1(the english 5.1 was only simulated!) these were the best versions of the OT i have ever seen (till i saw the new dvd of jedi  ) if u are a SW completist i would reccomend these as they are best quality that the SE's will ever be in (better pic than the LD's)
also i would recomend the "pre SE LD rips" for anyone who wants the original pre SE versions :smashin:

When did Germany get a HD service then, they kept that quite:)
I know Premiere had DD5.1 a long time before SKY got round to it but I would have thought HD commercial broadcasting of the Star Wars movies would have been BIG news.

There is no HDTV in Germany. What you saw is probably SD broadcast upconverted to HD on PC. Why do people make up this stuff?.

i dunno! its probably chinese whispered its way into that title if u know what i mean! but its defintely german cause the title and scroll is in german and it is OAR, the german soundtrack is full 5.1(where would that come from?) and it is the SE not the new dvd versions? the plot thickens! as i said before its only really of any use to anyone who will not be buying the new set(fools!) or someone who is archiving the releases (as this is the best quality i have ever seen the SE's in)
