    Ta.
All at 8-9% required, hope that is higher when it actually comes to record.

Even the BBC recordings are predicted in that range, nothing to worry about when you are watching SM9HD, SM10HD is another thing entirely:(

Im expecting them to take up 80-85% for all of them.

    I had a three prequels until about a month ago, I've deleted 1 and 2, kept 3, I'm only recording 4, 5, and 6.

It's times like these we beg for a HD DVD recorder, just no way enough space on the sky box.

This time next week we probably won't have any of these left on the box.:(

I phoned today and booked my SkyHD install.... for Wednesday 3rd Jan.

So I'll miss out on the New Year's Day Star Wars-fest :(

....but according to Digital Spy's TV Guide, Episodes IV, V and VI are being shown on Sky Movies 9HD on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th respectively!

Without te Star Wars movies in HD, I probably wouldn't have bothered with SkyHD until next Summer or until another 5 or 6 channels were announced... but Star Wars was just too tempting

I just hope that the movies are broadcast at a high bitrate, and that the HD transfer is a good 'un... I'll be watching for feedback on Monday from people who already have SkyHD :D

    Cheers,
    JB

I downloaded the prequels thanks to those who capped the SKY HD broadcasts, would love to have kept them on the hard drive for ease of use but it's too small and not interested in paying to replace a perfectly good 300gig drive and of course they are not on HD-DVD or Blu-ray yet.

Cross fingers 1,2 and 3 turn up at some point:)

When EP1-3 was shown a few months back and some again since I was of the understanding that people were happy with EP3 for quality, but not EP1 or 2. Can we expect an improvement in the quality of EP1 & 2 this time round or will it be the same as we've already seen?
EP 4-6 for the first time in HD is going to be great and I am really looking forward to these, the proper Star Wars movies! Just hope they havn't added yet more fake bits.
    Cheers

It almost certainly will be, I recorded episodes 1, 2 and 3 when they were shown a couple of months ago and while I can't remember the exact figures, they were in the 13-15% range. I've cleared out my disk and hope 85% will suffice for all 6, I'm still trying to decide whether to watch them in episode or film made order.

    Hi,

I recorded EP1,2,3 earlier this year and each one is 13% ..

When i look at the anticipated amount for this time round its 8-9% each..which to me is a 25% reduction in capacity..

I can therefore only summise that a 25% reduction in picture quality will be seen tomorrow...

I am keeping the old ones as i dont expect the new ones to be any better..

    Any thoughts?

    :D
It's easy to miss info when you speed read a thread even one you may really be interested in.
However any long term user of SKY+ (HD or SD) should really know that predicted hdd useage is based on a figure that bears little relation to the actual bitrate of the channel in question.

I missed the first one but noticed its repeated later today - any initial thoughs on PQ ? All the others are setup to record - now I need to start watching my other stuff to free the space. I know they are on throughout the month but I'd like to get them all today, then get them burnt off to PC :)

    Dave,

I'm interested, how do you do that? I've read about upgrading the HDD in the SKYHD box and having to connect it to PC but I didn't think you could transfer the content to PC for use.....

Really does irritate not being able to store more than a few films...I end up having to choose which films I haven't seen to delete all the blinking time.

I think he must have downloaded 1, 2 and 3 from somewhere on the internet and then he streams it to his xbox 360 in hd from his computer but can't figure out what he is trying to say about 4, 5 and 6 - perhaps he has a hd capture card and is going to record them onto his pc from his sky hd

Well I've just checked the size of the first two and they're ~25% so it doesn't look like the pq has been reduced just the HD box being a little optimistic about the required size.

Yes god bless the internet and those who feed it:)
I assume the same method would be used for eps 4,5 and 6 unless LCR_Dave is using a PC based solution for viewing SKY HD right now as a few are.

I recorded Ep1 and Ep2 when they were first shown and they came out at 10% and 11%, the ones this morning came out at 13% and 14% so I am happy, better quality :)

Now if I can only get then off my Dad's HD box and on to mine box (when I get it)

Got Ep III on in the background while I slowly recover... It's looking as good as I recall from when it was on previously. Looking forward to Ep IV, just need to time my inevitable relapse and snooze accordingly.

I can't decide if its nice to actually have some pleasant sunshine about, or if its annoying as I'm having to close all the curtains so I can see what's on the telly!
