I know the R1 release will probaley be available a week or before that date but DVDTimes have said that the DVD will be released in the UK on October 31st, only a day before the US I know but odd that its not a worldwide release.

Episode 1 and 2 were released here before the US too. It's as worldwide as they can make it without changing set days for releases. Knowing my HMV, I should have it on Friday.

    Gary :hiya:

A week or two that sounds great.

Yes I do use play and cdwow allot, mainly because they are so simple (all my details are entered). So far i have ordered over 300 items from play :D
I have found that over the years the delivery time has slowed right down from play, I used to get everything so quickly off them but not any more. CDwow always takes a while but it is not shipped from the uk so that is ok.

I think I will check out movietyme, its already bookmarked in my favourites. :smashin:

Cheers again for the info

    From Craig@movieyme

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for the mentions on those threads.
If anyone were to get a customs bill they just send it to us and we would refund them.

We were the first company to ship the last Star Wars movie out on DVD so hopfully will be the same again, the last one was 3 weeks early. I would say pre book as early as possible though in case we get short shipped - then they go out in order number.

    :)

If they had R2 DVD's, my order would already be in. As it is, though I can play R1, I'd rather have the R2 DVD.

I might be wrong but I heard that the reason places like Movietyme can ship early is due to their suppliers sending them stock in advance so they dont have to keep it stored in a warehouse until release where as in the UK the majority of shops dont recieve their stock until about 5 days before release.

If you want the R2 release then I would recommend pre-ordering with somewhere like Play.com or dvd.co.uk as those companies in my experience usually post pre-orders on the Thursday before release so you recieve for the weekend but considering what happened with the R2 release of the Star Wars Trilogy I wouldnt be suprised if the earliest anyone can get ROTS on R2 would be the Monday morning of release.

Wouldnt have thought anywhere big like that would put out stock before release because if the films company found out they could fine the shop and stop them stocking any of their future titles but who wants to go hunting round the Friday and Saturday before release when Movietyme will no doubt have it to you a week before then :smashin:

I used to work for Dixons and they would often go out at least a day before, Harry Potter springs to mind (Only sell big releases now, so may sell ROTS!).
Chrislad, I'm sure pre-ordering R1 will get you the DVD quicker (my experience anyway) - could you really wait

I know I cant, off to Movietyme I go

Does anyone know what the score is with boxsets yet? Like many I am after that 'ultimate' DVD collection of all six movies (ultimate until the HD DVD/BluRay version anyway!). Are we likely to get a 6 movie boxset this year or are people just cracking on and ordering the standalone release?

Its been said that there wont be a 6 Film Boxset release anytime soon so defently not this year and probaley not in 2006 but would make sense to release one in 2007 as it will be the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars but the question is, can you wait that long? and what will George change this time?

The 2 Disc Region 1 or Region 3 release will be the one to look out for due to the audio being at the correct pitch, I am sure the extra features will be identical worldwide.

Who cares if you get it a little earlier or a little later because once you have got it and watched it, the DVD will go back on the shelf. At the end of the day you may as well just go for the cheapest and save yourself some money!
