I see on a well known auction site that people are trading so called Original Star Wars Trilogy DVD's. I guess these are taken from laserdisc etc. I have always wanted to get hold of the deleted scenes and making of documentaries, but looks like they are not appearing on the boxset released in september. Anybody know where I might get hold of this material.

    Cheers

    Damo :)

I own a set of original DVD,s. They are from the eastern region, as they have Thai and Malay subtitles on them, The picture and sound are not fantastic.

I would wait and see what is actually coming on the box set later this year.

Some deleted scenes can be downloaded from either blueharvest.net or starwarscutscenes.com. They also have screenshots of some of them. There are other sites with little outakes etc. Just put "star wars deleted/cut scenes" or something similar into google.

As for making of documentaries - a lot of documentary material appeared on a CD-ROM called "Behind the Magic" (I think that's the title). You may be able to get hold of a copy via ebay. There was also a lot of documentary footage released about the time of the Special Edition, some of which got onto the video, laserdisc & VCD releases.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't any DVD of the original Star Wars trilogy a pirate copy as when it finally hits DVDs in September it will be for the first time anywhere officially globally!

yeah, definitely true.... I've seen the first movies on dvd ( which came from thailand, bootleg from the side of the street ), and the opening credits have laserdisc info on them.

They did however have the extra scenes on them, so they must have come from the re-released laserdisc's...

I just got the unbastardised versions on pirate dvd yesterday, mastered off laserdisc. the pq isnt too bad but theres occasional lipsync probs. But its on a nondegradable (ish) format and its the only way we'll ever ever get to own them like we remember. So I'm happy.
