Just heard this on the news.
It's sad when characters you have grown up with pass on.

Bad taste I know but I can't resist quoting Bones :-
    " it's worse than that , he's dead Jim "

    Meant affectionately

She could you know . He had his last kid only 5 years ago when he was 80!
Not bad for a pretty much wheelchair bound guy with Alzheimers.

Damn shame, I really liked him and all the original crew of Star Trek. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

I added one of his lines in his obit do you think I should include some more?
On the one hand it is Jamed Doohan's obit not Scotty's, on the other he made the role and he really took to the role I think I read somewhere he attended over 400 conventions, and never botherd him if he was spotted and someone wanted to take a picture with Scotty.

Yes Garrett, i think you should, he understood his place in the pecking order, no dreams of headline Hollywood movies. He understood what Scotty was to the public and built his career round it. Wise man. He will be sadly missed. I wish he could of had a chat with David Duchovney.... :(

I met him once - must be around 20 years ago now - and he was a very approachable, amiable chap full of good humour.

    Very sad news.

    RIP.

Shot SIX times on Juno Beach in the Normandy landings

"At 19, James joined the Canadian army, becoming a lieutenant in the artillery. He was among the Canadian forces that landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. "The sea was rough," he recalled. "We were more afraid of drowning than the Germans."

The Canadians crossed a minefield laid for tanks; the soldiers weren't heavy enough to detonate the bombs. At 11:30 that night, he was machine-gunned, taking six hits: one that took off his middle right finger (he usually managed to hide the missing finger on the screen), four in his leg and one in the chest. The chest bullet was stopped by his silver cigarette case."

    A hero.

    RIP
