I know the announcement by paramount to release the 2 most recent star trek movies on uhd in june was made a while ago now.. However I'm looking to buy the into darkness copy on uhd, great film, but also a 4k master and the imax version will be on the disc according to the release statement. Now both films are listed for sale on wowhd Search results for Movies/TV : "Ultra hd" but there are 3 copies of into darkness, at 3 different prices with no real difference in descriptions. I emailed them and asked and they gave some bollocks about one being bluray, another 3d bluray, and the final in uhd.. which is rubbish as all 3 are listed as uhd. The only differences i can see are both films have a base version at £24.64 that have the same 3 format deal every other release has. Then another version each like £2 more with 'dubbed' in the description, which is probably the bilingual version also on amazon.ca .. But then just into darkness has a 3rd version at like £29 just saying wide-screen and ac3 different in the description, which every film has anyway.. Now if the most expensive version of into darkness is infact the imax version, cool im fine to pay £4 more for it. But it was my understanding from the release statement that just an imax version of into darkness will be released and a standard version of the first chris pine star trek film would be released. So i dont want to soend more for the same thing but i also don't want to faff about returning to America if I've not bought the imax version. Anyone have anymore information regarding different versions of these films being released? Wowhd are great on prices and availability, but bloody useless when it comes to information.
