Is Star Trek: The Motion Picture Director's Edition still likely to be remastered and released in UHD HDR any time soon?

There would be little point as it stands, because the new CGI visual effects sequences were created in (non-HD) 480p format, which is why it hasn't appeared on Blu-ray. The only option would be if Paramount were to go to the not inconsiderable expense of upgrading the VFX, as they did for 'ST: TNG'.

Apparently, that may happen....

Compared to what they did with TNG it would be pretty cheap and a relatively quick undertaking to re-create/re-render the new CG shots that were created for the Directors Edition.

Sadly Paramount just don't seem to care about Trek anymore as evidenced by the same old 2009 Blu-rays being sold in 2021, perhaps the need for new content to bring subscribers to Paramount+ will force them to prep new 4K transfers of 1-10 but that is about all I expect from them.
