The Special Eds are being released for all the movies. What is the difference between these and the previously released editions?

Is the picture and sound better? Are the movies different (new scenes etc)?

Some may have new scenes, where available.

There are lots of extras - good ones in the main, rather than space fillers

Very likely non-anamorphic transfers will be anamorphic come their respective SE

Of the ones relesed so far, ST1 is a new director's cut, ST2 has extra scenes (I think - haven't got that one yet), and ST3 has no new scenes, just new features.

I heard that there is also going to be a new version of Star Trek 5 with all the bad footage edited out - it is going to be about 30 seconds long :D
