Star Trek 2 - 7 SE (2 disk) £6.99 each at dvd.co.uk:
That's a good price - so many sites have the odd one cheap and the others expensive.
I have never bought from DVD.co.uk - what is their service like?
I have only used them a couple of times but service was comparable to play.com
Thanks mate for the feedback.
Star Trek 1 (The Motion Picture) is also at £6.99 I see. Bought it almost as cheap on Amazon a couple of weeks back and I must say it's well worth getting for the changes that have been made. The new effects match up to the original 1979 effects really well and it all flows better. As far as I know it's the only one of the Star Trek special editions that has had major work done to it.
I am very tempted by Wrath Of Khan too as it apparantly has a couple of new scenes, most importantly explaining to the viewer who Peter Preston actually is...
Hi there! Do you know whether these are good prices to pay for the SEs? I have not looked for some time you see, cheers.
Yep ,the special edtion of Khan is well worth getting for the extra scenes. although I was a bit disapointed that the older trek movies 2,3,4,5 prints were not given the old thx remastering type of going over that they deserved.
Either way though, I guess the SEs are better than the TV versions we've all seen time and time again! I wish ST:FC price will drop so I can get that one, great film!
£9.99 fom movietyme, although it is a region 1 disc.
These prices are great bargains, I paid between £8 and £12 each for 1-7 and in the case of Generations I paid £11.99 only about a month ago so to find it for £6.99 hurts.
If you dont have them, snap them up before they go.
Gone for Generations. Learnt some time ago that if you are prepared to wait and drop a title behind the current release you can always pick up the SEs for £8.99 or lkess on the net or in the High Street. This is the first time Generations has been below £9.99 so I've gone for it at this price which is particularly good as it includes p&p.
The same theory works with Red Dwarf. Season 1 to 5 will be £8.99 if you look around but the current release, season 6 will be over priced until season 7 comes out.
Too true. It's always worth waiting a few months.
Great. Thanks partyweb I have been waiting for these to come down in price - I bought 2,3&4 for £6.99 ages ago, but haven't seen 5,6&7 at that price anywhere.
DVD.co.uk are excellent by the way, used them many times, good packaging and next day delivery in my experience...
Gone for these, thanks
Is there a special edition of Star Trek 1, I have seen the directors edition but not one to match these
I must personally thank http://www.find-dvd.co.uk for their price watch feature which lets me know as soon as someone sells a Star Trek movie for £6.99 or less. (or any other film for that matter)
Nope. just the directors cut.
No, that is the 2 disk SE version. It just doesn't have the matching slipcase like the rest. Mind you ST2 doesn't exactly match up either and is also called the Director's Edition.
The consolation is that ST1 and Nemesis provide visual bookends to the rest of the collection
DVD Soon sells these as new-releases at a pre-order price of just over a fiver.
Pays to keep checking the price fluctuations before release date too. Have had some for as low as CAN$9.98! (about £4.50), and of course if you're an i-Card holder there's at least 10% off that price too!
So, we've agreed the £6.99 is a great price for the movies, but no comes the age old question "R2 or R1"....any thoughts?
The R1 Star Trek special editions have the most crap cases you have ever seen. Not sure on the extras side of things but if you are into aesthetics then R2 is for you. The cases are the same as the god awful R1 Die Hard Trilogy Ultimate set.
Aesthetics are not as important as content to me, so it would be nice to know whether the quality of the prints, audio and extras any different between regions.
Content and quality are the same - and yes the R2 boxes are much, much prettier, but at £24.99 RRP as new releases compared to a fiver on DVD Soon, I can kive with the cases.
They don't appear to be completely brilliant at the moment.
I ordered Generations and have received no further e-mails from them. Out of curiosity I went to the website to find out why it hadn't arrived after three days only to see it shown as 'no stock'.
I wonder when they were going to tell me?
When I ordered this on Monday it said available in 7-14 days. Still says that now
Arrived this morning - no cardboard slip-cases!

Super fast delivery of mine, but if the slip case is not there I'm sending mine back. Can't have it looking out of place when all my other dvds have the cases (bar part 1 of course). Seems a bit strange that there's no slip case on them? I've yet to see a copy of any of them without a slip case in any shop It will be down in price all over the place soon enough anyway so I can wait for the version I want....Mine should be tomorrow and If it is I'll post if it had the slip case or not.
I would get onto them then because if the low price is due to the missing slipcases then fair enough but they should at least tell you before you order its missing as the slipcase is the main reason I am collecting the UK releases or the US releases.
I am ashamed!
My not so subtle attempt to trap you didn't work! You are a wise man indeed
