Just bought a set of Alphason SS20 speaker stands having been told they are compatible with Kef Eggs, unfortunately they are not. I don't particularly like the Kef stands so I am looking for some alternative stands, has anyone any recommendations that they know work with the Eggs.

    Many thanks.

As they said they were compatible i'm getting them to refund the full amount plus the cost for me to post them back. Now just need to find some suitable stands.

    Hi there,

I have just got these stands for my eggs. They are made by AVF and model no. P6171S and I purchased them from B & Q. They come with a universal mounting plate that can be bolted to the Kef Eggs base quite nicely using the keyhole slots provided. They can be mouned in two ways, one with the speaker sitting on top of the mounting plate as in my picture, and the other with the speakers base mounted at the back of the speaker and then fixed to the mounting plate in the vertical position. There is provision for routing the speaker cable through the centre of the stands column (I havn't done that yet in my picture) and the base is quite heavy making it reasonably stable.

    Hope this helps

PS. If I've done everything right there should be a picture attached.

No offence folks. I'm sure they sound very nice, but those Eggs are exceedingly ugly speakers.

Don't let my wife hear you say that. It took me ages to get from her absolutely hating them and not letting me buy them, to the point where she now doesn't mind them and did let me buy them.

She now conceeds that they are tolerable

Has anyone tried the speaker stands from Ikea? I've got some at the moment to mount some cheap speakers - I just wondered if the eggs would fit on them. And also whether they're actually any good as stands compared to the hifi brands

They're the ones with a massive concrete lump at the base, so at least they're pretty stable!

    Narabdela,
Do you have any alternative suggestions for speakers that are just as good, small, and magnetically shielded? Just wondering - as I'm looking to buy. I've heard of the JMLabs Sib and Cubs cannot demo them where I live. Infinity Oreus is not shielded (though if they are just as good or better I'm beginning to wonder about wall mounting). Any suggestions?

    Hi Big A,

The stands were just under £40 and are available in black or silver. The three legged base is quite heavy and made from cast metal, so this gives quite good stability. They are also supplied with spikes for the base. However, if you have young kids and the stands are accessible they will probably get pulled over. For this reason, I intend modifying mine slightly so that they can be screwed to the floor.

    Regards

    Russell

    Found 'em here

No kids so not too worried about toppling over. Still undecided whether to freestand or wall mount my eggs. These look good for the cash though.

Have got my rears on them (had the stands before getting the Eggs). They are OK and the Eggs sit on them quite firmly (stuck on with a reasonable lump of blue-tak). Square plate at the top of the stand needs a bit of trimming so that it doesn't extend beyond the edge of the Egg foot. Other than that - no problems with the Ikea stand.

Bit ugly to use for standing fronts on though IMO.
