I'm gonna buy a PW7 but want to put it on a stand rather than wall mount it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    TIA

Desk stand (on one of those rather popular wooden TV benches from Ikea).

    Thanks, folks.

Mmmm, I like the idea of being able to put my centre speaker under the plasma like in that thread that you sent, Laura. I have Kef eggs, the same as in that pic - looks like the SMS stands might be the way to go....

Out of interest, where do people who have the av-sales low stand put the centre speaker?

The nicest stand is the Panasonic TY-ST42PA20 Design-Stand.

Does anyone else have any suggestions or ideas regarding centre speaker placement with a PW6/PW7 and a desk stand? My understanding is that the recommended location for the centre speaker is under the screen rather than above it?

The Ikea Oppli stand is very nice and it's cheap and you can either put your plasma on it if you have that or a DLP projection TV and then put all your equipment underneath inside the stand.

horny - I have the Kef eggs so I doubt 8cm clearance will be enough. I will measure the centre when I get home tonight. I want it to look very much like this, only with a PW7... :)

Got my center speaker just below the screen on the top of a Ikea Magiker stand.
It puts the speaker at just below ear height, and inline with the other front speakers.

I'm using the SMS desktop stand, and Mordant Short Genies.

I'll upload a pic if its any use.

Are there any universal stands that will fit the PW7?

HornyDragon - my centre Kef Egg stands around 6" (15.5 cm) high (with its base) so I guess I would need a plasma desk stand that will elevate the plasma by at least this much to enable me to put it underneath.

PS. Laura - pic would be good!

Panasonic do actually made a pedestal stand for the PW7 as it's the same as the PW6. Even the PE30 VIERA pedestal looks good under the PW7.

I've attached a pic of my 50" panasonic HD7 on the SMS stand.

    The Genie's are 13cm high.

Measuring the rails on the stand, there is a further 5cm's adjustment upwards left.

Thanks, Laura. If the SMS stand goes up to 18cm, it sound like it might be just the job for my Kef eggs. Out of interest, how much did you pay for the SMS stand?

    Thanks

philthy - here are the dimensions of the Ikea Oppli unit:

    Total width - 150cm
    Total depth - 50cm

Width of internal recesses - 44.5cm
Max height of internal recesses (with no shelf) - 25.5cm
Depth of internal recesses - 45.5cm (NB. this is less than the depth of the top surface)

If you need any other measurements, just shout...
