    Hi all,

Anyone been on a Stag Party in Newcastle or actually live there?
Going on a do in June and just wanted to know where to go and where to stay away from and is there any trouble getting into any places?

    Thanks,

    Gilly :)

Quayside or Jesmond but can be pricy, or Bigg market for the slappers.

Oh god, we had a disastrous stagger in Newcastle.:thumbsdow
Hated it so much I lost my temper and ended up going to the train station and paying extra to get home to Aberdeen early.
You've got to get into places so bloody early it's a joke.
So we ended up trudging around, looking for somewhere that would let us in.
Not as if we were dressed like twits either (no fancy dress etc.)
Ended up back in the hotel bar, which was duller than dull.
We'd won £400 on the dogs that afternoon too, so we were ready to go.
It put me clean off the place, I will endeavour to avoid it forever.

So, the only real advice I can give you is to make sure you get into a bar/nightclub early.
If you wait until the pubs shut, you've no chance.

If you start on Northumberland street and make your way down to the Quayside and have, say 1 drink in each, you probably wouldn't make it to the Quayside:D

Nah mate, the Toon is a great night out, you'll spend a bit mind you.

If you look drunk waiting to get into a club, you'll be persuaded by the bouncers to go away.I put that as mildly as i could.;)

Jesmond is full of students, easy to kick off if you know what i mean.

Each time I've been to Newc we've been out in Jesmond or the Quayside. I've been with locals though so they know where they're going. Plenty of pubs and clubs to choose from down Quayside though.

    Whitley Bay!!

I went on a stagger to Whitley Bay, had the time of my life. Reminded me of Magaluf in the NE of England! We stayed at this hell hole called Banana Joe's. Biggest dive ive ever stayed in but its only like £20 a night so would recommend it. There are plenty other cheap digs in the area too so have a search about. Most bars offered trebles for singles too so you could have a real cheap weekend. We headed off into Newcastle one night but came back soon after as we prefered it there.

I have been out in Newcastle twice before. Was big time into dance music at the time so went to a bar called Liquid I think. Considering its only a bar, it was pretty crazy from about 8pm onwards. Headed off to Icon after, had a great time but thrown out the second time for throwing up all over the carpet!

No stagger can be complete without a trip to the gentlemans club! I would recommend Blue Velvet, real classy place. It was £10 to get in and £10-£20 per dance. My mate spent over £100 in there in just over an hour! Aparantly because of some local by-law, the ladies need to keep their briefs on but its no big deal I guess!

    The Bigg Market is horrid.

Quayside is good. Loads of bars, a few clubs, plenty of places for food etc

Jesmond (Osborne Road) is good as well.

For a couple of nights I would have a Friday in Jesmond and Saturday on the Quayside. They are a taxi ride apart, not far but too far to walk.

As commented earlier there are lots of students in Jesmond but still a great night out (not that I am suggesting students don't make a good night out! I used to be one!)

"As You Like It" near the Civic Centre is tremendous, although maybe not right for a Stag.

    Whatever you do - enjoy!!

As You Like It is one of the worst places I've ever been to.
Full of people wnating to "be seen" talking very loudly about how much money they have and sneering at the barstaff.

The Royal Archer (now called Mr Lynch's) is OK and usually has a live band on, but it's not much of a circuit when there's only two pubs and one of them's crap.

Think there's a couple in the big market, The best areas are the big market which is always packed  and the quayside which is pricey but lots of good pubs for grub. Also there's the gate area with Tiger Tiger and Sam Jacks but it can be pricey as well but has happy hours. All these areas are about a 15 minute walking distance of eachother  You's will have a ball in Newcastle which is the most popular place in the UK for Stag and Hen party's

I had my stag do in Newcastle a few years ago, It was such a laugh that I can't remember the name of most of the places we went to… Quayside was quality, some place called Rodeo's or something was also good, but best by far was a sports bar in a shopping centre (I'm sure someone can confirm the name) it was the quarter final of the World Cup 2006 England v Portugal and except for the result the night was amazing! We were in this bar on the Friday night and the fit bird in tight white hot pants and vest top (along with a massive TV screen) persuaded us to return to watch the football there on the Saturday, anyway on the Saturday the fit bird was joined by 9 mates equally gorgeous who all danced on the bar at regular intervals and even poured a jug of cold water over themselves at half time as part of a routine!

    Oh what a night… :D

What you should do is... (If your good drinkers...)

Whitley bay from about 1pm, its magaluf in the rain... few bars and the cheesy stp joints and cheap drinks.... head to Jesmond about 4-5pm via the metro. (You could stay in Whitley bay all night as its a good night, as you start at the top of the road and make your way down, as its constant bars, around 15-20 in a row)

Hit the happy hours in Jesmond till about 8pm (Osbornes etc) more students, rich kids etc, then hop on the metro again to town.

You can either get of at Haymarket and head to the gate (indoor complex, with bars, restaurants and clubs) (I call it bigg market indoors) and have a few beers in there, then hit the tail end of the big market (linkers bar is just from it, and flares an 70s bar which lets anybody is ) and then down the quayside... and possibly a club or two. (Buffalo joes is over the swing bridge, the boat and baja is no longer open now). If your a clubber Shindig is a good nite...

OR get off at central station for the more up market bars ie My Lyncs, the apartment, living room, purdu etc.

    Then head down the quayside

NOTE : Newcastle is not silly, it will not let in large groups of men.

All the bars in newcastle are very close even the different drinking scenes merge into one these days....

Let me know what type of nite you want and I will answer questions..

I would stay at one of the travel lodges in town, or cheaper is Jesmond and Whitley bay

Liquid is the new club people go to
Buffalo joes is a cheesy club (over the water from quayside)
Mood is ok for RandB (in the gate)
Tiger Tiger is Tiger Tiger (next to gate)
Beyond \Destiny is RandB ish again (in the gate)
Lounge is canny enough or used to, it may be a titty bar now (central station)
