So just sold my copy of SSX on ebay to make room for SSX3 but now my next choice is on which console .. Ive got all three (cube, ps2, xbox) so have a choice ... The one thing that would swing me across to PS2 would be the online play - but is it run by EA, and if so will it be as bad as trying to get FIFA2004 online ...

Any recomendations on this - and has anyone tried it online ?

Ill probably get it from game on ps2 and try it out .. perhaps get it on xbox from game as well .. then take em both back and buy the best one from play (cheaper)

I've got it on the xbox and it's brilliant. Despite the fact you can't take it on live it's still a superb gaming experience in its own right. Also Amped 2 is due out soon and its live enabled so that's me sorted for online snowboarding action ;)

i'd hold out for amped 2

amped is far far better than ssx.

And it'll be on line properly, none of this net enabled ps2 rubbish.

PS2 has widescreeen option, xbox hasn`t.
A bit like Fifa 2004

Both look almost the same to me, the loading times are near the same, so for my money the ps2 wins with the widescreen option, and live play of course :)

I have both versions, and I dont consider myself a fanboy, before anyone asks ;)

I know some of the guys at EA and here is the scoop:

If online is important -> PS2
If graphics is important -> Xbox

The textures are much more detailed in the Xbox version than the others. I've got the demo from OXM:UK and its LOVELY! :D

GG - Amped 2 is going to have to be +very+ good to beat SSX3.

I still think 1080 will be the best when it comes out though :D

    Regards,
    Neil.

I suppose yes and no Neil.

Amped is a "simulation" if you will. ie more realistic tricks and grinds. Where as SSX is an arcade thrasher. Both very good in their own right.

However i felt amped wiped the floor with ssx tricky. But then again ssx tricky is quite old. I think i will reserve judgement on this one until they are both out, however as Amped 2 is completely on-line rather than "enabled" as all the "live" ps2 games i've seen so far have more than left me flat.

I wasn't aware that ssx 3 on xbox won't be widescreen?
Seems silly as i have my xbox set to widescreen, and this will be a first as far as i know. I always have my tv set to 16:9.

I thought the gfx on the Xbox were horrid, not seen any other version.

Maybe because I had just played the PGR2 demo

I totally agree. SSX3 is superb fun, it's a shame EA have a stick up their behinds with regards to supporting Xbox Live, it's the only thing lacking in the game :(
I don't think Amped2 will beat SSX3 with regards to just plain pick up and play fun for the reasons mentioned by 'games guru', it's more simulation than mad fun like SSX3.... shame. But I can't overlook the added bonus of online play... so bring on Amped2 hehe

I have NTSC SSX3 on XBox and it does have widescreen display and looks great. Plays superbly, and the difference between this and the amped series is so great I think there is room for both. I should have amped2 within a day or two so will know for sure then.

Well I've had Amped 2 for a week now and have to say I'm not that impressed with it. As someone stated earlier it is more sim, less fun I'm afraid and so far not even the addition of Live support has made it any better :(
    Shame
It's also annoying not being able to see who you're playing on live unless you make a point of staying close together.

    That's a shame you don't like Amped 2.

I've played it and i think it's great.

If you get the skateboard prepheral as well it made amped amazing :)

I like SSX 3, but i personally find the realism in Amped 2 breathtaking. :)
