Wow...I just got this through and imagine my suprise when I noticed the DTS logo on the disc stating DTS Interactive.
Is this the first game to carry DTS sound I wonder?

As for the game itself....Brilliant!!!!!Along with GTA3,Pro-Evolution Soccer and Silent Hill 2 I'm finding there aren't enough hours in the day to enjoy them all.:)

The PS2 does indeed support DTS and DD 5.1.(It has embossed logos on the top of the unit).

I have selected the DTS audio on SSX Tricky and it sounds fantastic (I have a humble SONY STRDB925 amp)!!
However there's no centre channel so I guess it's DTS 4.1 instead of 5.1!?
Still sounds great for a game!

NHL 2002 is quite simply awesome in DTS. Was nice to find this capability during gameplay, as there's not a clue to its inclusion on the packaging.

I've heard the centre channel is only used for the announcer.

btw, most future EA games will support DTS5.1

I get no sound whatsoever through the centre speaker and the lcd display on the amp indicates that only front 2 and rear 2 speakers are active!
    :(

I've been toying with the idea of getting this game for a while as I never played the original. With DTS in game sound, this is a good enough reason for me to order it immediately.:)

I remember really looking forward to trying out GT3 with my new AV amp and was a bit dissapointed. Don't get me wrong it sounds ok but once you've heard DD & DTS, Pro-Logic just doesn't quite cut it.

It is dts 4.0 which is a joke.
    No centre channel OR sub.

As far as i'm aware, ps2 can only do dolby digital in cut scenes and not in real time without the use of extensive middleware tools which have a hefty cut on performance. Xbox can do it on the fly encoded within the hardware rather than software.

Hopefully the situation will improve for ps2's sound. At the moment it's simply an inferior sounding xbox, while still sounding better than gamecube. But gamecube was never meant to be a home entertainment centre...
