Ssshhh! Alexa is listening!

I have an Echo Dot with in built clock on my bedside cabinet, it's a great device for setting alarms, and generally asking Alexa what the weather forecast is etc.

This morning, I was sat in bed having my first coffee of the day, and quite unexpectedly in my right ear, got a touch of 'whistling' and a blocking out of all other sound. It only lasted a few seconds, but was unusual enough to mention it to my wife. Now I didn't mention tinnitus, I just described the symptoms, and that it had cleared very quickly - my wife, a GP, didn't seem concerned in the slightest. And that's where we left it.

I open up my emails a few minutes later, and, having never seen an advert for this before, there was an email, offering solutions to tinnitus!

Call me paranoid, but I think it's awfully suspect that I mention my brief hearing issue one minute, and a few minutes later, a random email from a tinnitus clinic drops into my inbox!

Could be a total fluke - I mean, if Alexa were listening all the time, then my inbox should be flooded with adverts for battery operated marital toys, and penis enlargers - oh wait...... j/k :D ( or am I)?;)

Anyway, just be careful what you say around your Echos. Now, where did I put that tin foil?....

With being stuck in the house so much lately and feeling a bit lonely at times I must be talking too much around my devices.

For some reason I keep getting emails and adverts for Ford Escorts which is odd as they haven't made those for years.

I’m pretty certain it does monitors for keywords. I frequently open the Amazon app to find deals and adverts for, sometimes obscure, products we have discussed in the house, no way it can be a coincidence.

You can listen to what Alexa has recorded in the app. Just log into the app and go to Alexa Privacy. You hear and delete all the recordings from there.

Interesting fact, add the word "anal" before any Ford product and it instantly improves the product name...

Anal Escort
Anal Focus
Anal Ranger
Anal Transit...

It will be worth the ban...

Just mentioned this to my wife, as her '70 plate Anal Kuga is sat on the drive.

She said I can drive myself to casualty once the double vision has died down a bit...

Almost like they knew people played that game. Lets not forget the Ford Probe.

The Kuga is better in the US where it's called the Escape.

The Ka would be better if you had a pair.

There's always the Galaxy or the Cougar

Other in the US are the Explorer, Expedition, Super-Duty, Everest, Starliner, Thunderbird, Freestyle and painfully the 500.

My lad rang my wife from work one day and said something like ' how could you say that about your favourite son'.

She had been in his bedroom to tidy it up and said a few choice words about him because of the state of the room and he heard what she had said after going onto the Alexa app.
