Hello all, hope someone can help with my square room I know it’s not ideal for bass response, it’s 4m x 4m with a double door opening to the right of where I sit and a 10 feet window to the left of me , I’m a metre away from back wall ,ive added pics , bass from my front towers is not great in stereo (No sub) Unless I stand up, I think my sub bk12 sb sounds a bit boomy I’ve moved them around but made little difference, I’m wondering if I put equipment in front of the big window would be worth the effort , please excuse the mess . thank you

I feel this room will be a little hard to resolve as I'm guessing your already finding. If your speakers can use bungs, try using them together with squaring the speakers to the back wall in place of toeing them inwards, you could also try moving the speakers to and fro from the wall to see if you can control the bass a little further.

With 5.1, you'll have to make sure you roll off correctly on the speakers (room eq settings altering where the subwoofer takes over from the speakers. Usually this is set to 80Hz) and then look at the woofer again with its levels. This will enable you to reduce the boom as much as possible.

Do note that placing the woofer in a corner increases the dB and 3.0, so try reducing it by 3..0 or 4.0 too within the amps settings or placing the subwoofer between the main front speakers

I hope that give you a little bit of a starting point

If you manage to get some control over your speakers, then do ensure you run the room eq on your amp to see if it nips it all together.

Many thanks for your reply, speakers have ports on the bottom rear I will try that, I’m crossing over at 80htz on all speakers it is atmos setup with height speakers, Sony str dn1080 amp, I was just curious if I had speakers and sub facing the double door opening would it be better option, thanks again

Try moving the speakers firstly by squaring them with the back wall, then moving the to and fro from the back wall as mentioned. If that doesn't help, add the bungs and do the same. The issue you have is trying to take control of the floorstands and without that, the boom

Regarding the double doors, It's a little bit more complicated as the double doors could cause even more unwanted reflections as glass isn't ideal either.

As I mentioned, it'll be a tough one to resolve, but small changes should help and with many small changes you should be able to deliver an acceptable compromise :)

Thank you your very helpful, definitely improving speakers up against the wall
