i have the following on my pc and, so far, have protected or cleared any rubbish out

spywareblaster - auto blocks, no scanning required

spybot search & destroy - need to scan but v. good

adaware - need to scan but also v. good

no product removes everything, all the time.

as time goes on spyware etc becomes ever more sophisticated at hiding itself and preventing its removal

I clean up dozens of PCs and laptops each weak and use

AVG8
Spybot search and destroy
Malwarebytes (good at getting the odd one or two that Spybot sometimes missus)
and Adaware as a backup

Last week I had a record score on a laptop, 121 unique types of virus/spyware/malware with over 2100 elements of infection Took 9 Scans to fully clean.
