Anyone know how much a spray over (not a complete rubdown job) would cost? I have a ten year old Honda Civic Coupe. It has only done 60,000 miles and has been serviced on time etc.
I love the way it drives and to be honest don't want to change it. However the body work has all the usual swirls and scratches on it. Nothing major and no rust. I was wondering if anything could be done like a spray over, maybe one coat. I've been told to try 'mopping' but I don't think that that will do the job.
    Any advice appreciated....:)

You cant just spray over and if anyone does offer it they are cowboys as it wont work. Trty mopping it basically this will take the cop layer of paint off and any light scratches should be taken away. Also alot cheaper a complee paintjob wil set you back anything from 600 to a grnad depending on whether you want door shuts and engine bay done etc

If its only minor scratches etc why not try getting a decent polish and polisher and spending a day giving it a real good polish. You could try wet buff it or if your really confident rub the paint back a layer and polish it back up but this would probably require a professional to do this but something like Meguiars scrath X, polish and wax would do wonders with a decent electric polisher like a porter cable which can be had for $99 from the states!

www.detailingworld.co.uk have a look on there, if you only have swirling and the odd scratch you will find most of it will come out, and a decent respray will cost at least £1500 upwards. A detailing session will start at £100 +

the guy who is doing mine will travel to Coventry if thats any use?

there would be a £20 petrol charge - seems resonable seeing as he's travelling from North Notts!

well its 11 hours later and all i can say is i'm gobsmacked by the end result!!

i was going to spend money to have scratches touched up - ALL GONE -its saved me a fortune

    car looks better than new

photos have been taken and i'll upload them on Monday

after it was done he gave me a care sheet to maintain the finish - he did NOT sell the products and sent me to Halfords - total cost about £40

then he threw out my crap 'care care' products!!

if you are in doubt get it done - best money i ever spent on a car!!

and now to get this Borla exhaust and Edelbrock suspension with the money saved!!

btw when i post the photos please keep comments as to the finish not the cars nudge bars etc

    thanks:D

So that was £275 plus £40 for the upkeep stuff? Very interested in seeing the pics.
Does he do anything with the interior? I know, I know.

regarding price - because i had the full package of work there is an all in price of £230 - however he did it for £200 because he had an offer until 30 April

the interior is vacuumed and cleaned - all plastic is cleaned and 'dressed' - and the leather was cleaned and 'fed'

the only extra i imagine for a fabric interior would be for shampooing etc of upholstery

Agreed it would save money and can get it done for a tenner at the local hand wash. I just wondered if he did anything to the interior at the time he did the exterior. If not I would get that done first. It looks like he does though so great..
    Hurry up with pics UDSF..:)

if i was looking to invest in a new business i would certainly go for car detailing

many top marque suppliers - eg Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari etc are finding that new buyers are having detailing done pre-delivery

strange that guys charging £25/hour can improve on the finish of a £250K car

if you really want to see what can be done have a look at this link

1922 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost - most expensive car in the world - according to Wiki up to $75 million insurance!!!

    http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=11754

if interested have a look at the detail a couple of forum guys did on a Bugatti Veyron!

It took about a day to do the interior and exterior.

I tried to upload several more pictures but I don't seem to be allowed
