We already have a thread with people's opinions/reviews of the new film (so please don't include those here), but there are also many questions that seem to have been left unanswered (or that I don't understand!)...

So who ordered the Clone Army? That was never answered in Ep2 or 3 - are we meant to just presume that it was Palpatine?

How did Leia become a princess? She was not adopted by royalty, but by a senator and his wife...

When does Vader realise that he has a son? Surely when he learnt this he would realise that actually Padme hadn't died by his hand (on the volcano planet) and that Palpatine had lied to him.
And surealy they could have found a better hiding place for Luke - they put him with Anakin's only family in a house he has already been to, and they didn't even change his surname!! :rotfl:

Why does Vader never realise that Leia is his daughter? especially when he tortures her in Ep4...

Padme dies in childbirth but Leia has a memory of her - I just dug up the exact quotes:
Leia says she "died when I was very young," she remembers "images, feelings. She was very beautiful, kind, but very sad."
Are we to suppose that she was talking about her adopted mother and not Padme?

I know I had more questions which I can't think of now...

Also there are a lot of questions that revolve around Episode 1 (like why on Naboo do the elect 14 year old girls to be their queen but they don't elect their senators, they are appointed by the queen!) but I won't even bother with those as Ep1 just sucks anyway!

    Good thread!

Why does Ben Kenobi not recognise R2 after he has scared away the sandpeople in A New Hope?

    try what?

    A couple more:

This film was 20 years before ANH, yet the death star had just started to be built.

Most of the jedi are dead...what the fudge did vader do for the next 20 years?

Do you think it would have been a twist too far somewhere inthe 3 prequels if it turned out that Anakin was Obi Wan's brother??

good point, 20 years to build the death star then it took them only a couple to half build it when return of the jedi came around

In the original trilogy, hyperspace travel takes days.

In eps 3 they can travel from Coruscant (centre of the Galaxy) to the galactic rim in 10 minutes.

    Answer is the quote.

Hyperspace: so the emporer could look really cool, he issued an edict on hyperspace travel. All hyperspace enabled craft actually needed to have a speed limiter fitted.

A parsec was infact equivalent to about 3 and a half hours, sheeding a whole new light On the Falcon's performance during the Kessel run.

They had endless problems with the unions, the emperor called in a consultancy group to negotiate a settlement but it wasn't forthcoming as they just kept having meetings. He fired them & hired a dark lady of the sith (Baroness Thatcher) to sort them out. When that was eventually sorted a key supplier went bust (MG Rover) , followed by fuel shortages. As a result of his lack of control over fuel supplies he invaded a small colony rich in the required minerals & got embroiled in a lengthy dispute as it angered a lot of other local colonies & so the rebellion began. He obviously got it built in the end, but by now there was such a sufficient ground swell that his days were numbered.

Yes, especially as R2-D2 was so memorable - I mean he saved Obi-Wan's life in Ep1 and flew half-way around the galaxy with him on several adventures in EpIII

Also why does Luke Skywalker's uncle not remember C-3PO - I mean they lived together on Tattooine for ten years!!!

And why did Anakin build C-3PO in the first place - he said he built it for his mother, but why would you build a protocol droid for a slave who lives in a remote village in the middle of the dessert? And why build a droid that is idential in every way to every other production-line protocol droid, that is like building your own kit car and making it exactly like a Ford Mondeo in every way!

I cant help it......I just find the whole prequel thing soooooooooooooooooo disappointing from a film making, acting, plot point of view. :(

So much potential wasted for me...and so many holes!

It would have been interesting to see what Spielberg or Peter Jackson could have done with it all.

I have just watched ROTJ (on DVD) why does the young Aniken (?? to many beers!) appear yet it is an old Obi Wan? Why does he not look like Ewan Mcgregor?

This has come up a lot recently.

My theory is this: in A New Hope, when Luke and his uncle are bartering with the jawas, Luke refers to (I'm paraphrasing) "this R2 unit". The logical inference which can be drawn from this is that an R2 unit (like, say, a Dyson vacuum cleaner) is just a type of droid of which thousands are manufactured. It just so happens that the same R2 unit re-appears throughout the story, but when 'Ole Ben Kenobi sees R2 again he only sees 'an R2 unit' not necessarily THE R2 unit which appears in the prequel trilogy.

Because Obi-Wan was a Jedi right through old age until death, whereas Anakin was only a Jedi until the ROTS era.

I thought that but Luke saves him so technically he is a Jedi Knight once again . In fact as it was like this before GL brought out his new versions of the last 3 movies!

Here's a quandary for you, you have a bad dream about your wife dying, similar to one you had about your mother dying just before she did.
Your boss tells a story about a bloke who could ressurrect the dead.
He says if you go out and slaughter all your friends and colleagues including a load of kids he can possibly help you out if your dream comes true.
Hands up who would go out and do it

How hot would those light sabre fights be??

Compare the mish mash that was ROTS fights with the sword fights in Kill Bill....now just imagine waht a good director could have really done!

Like a lot of stuff in the prequel trilogy (and the re-jigged original trilogy) George just does stuff (I believe) BECAUSE HE CAN (the technology is there so therefore he will fiddle). Then George and Rick and the gang come up with flimsy justifications for why this is so. I'm sure they came up with an explanation for your question about the images of Anakin and Obi, but I can't remember it, sorry!

What do you think about my R2 / collective recognition amnesia theory? :D
