HI

I ordered friends boxsets 1 thru to 6 from them on 24/12/2003

Have received 1 & 4, no sign of the others yet, despite me contacting them 2 times twice they have failed to confirm delivery dates, & no apologies from them.

Have just fired off an email saying no more business from me at any price. I was not aware that they had been removed from from the recommend suppliers list, i should have checked 1st shouldnt i.

I know these dvds are not at the cutting edge of home cinema technology, but i felt the need to vent my frustration about this company, SORRY

PS this is not the 1st problem i have had from SPLASH DVD dut it will definatley be the LAST !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks MORPH

-----UPDATE----

Monday 09/02/2004

After no reply to my email I again contacted SPLASH by phone, a wait of 35 minutes ensued, gave him the required order reference no. he then reeled off all the details of my order assuring me that they will be with me in 12-14 days except vol 1 & vol 6 which would be a little longer, but no date given. I stopped him there and asked why no reply to my email, he couldnt answer that so i demanded that he refund my credit card forthwith, this will take between 3-5 working days i believe.

Told him that i will be sending a letter of my dissatisfaction to the director Chris Shelton, also that i would be contacting trading standards over the matter, & contacting my credit card company over the way my transaction was handled. He did not seem at all bothered (but he is a wage slave probably, But if enough people do this then he will not have a job to be bothered about).

I was not aware of the depth of feeling on this site regarding SPLASH. I will definatley check my next supplier out by checking this most illuminating forum. I know my register date is 2001 but have been offline for a while, but am looking forward to visiting the forum on a more regular basis now, seeing as i have just purchased the YAMAHA DVDS 540 for £100 delivered from SUPERFI, ORDERED THURSDAY RECEIVED FRIDAY things are looking up. I also got the multi region handset hack from this forum & will now begin to chart undiscovered waters (for me at least) that is region 1

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THIS POST & ALSO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED

THANK YOU

MORPH

Sorry to hear this Morph, but I'm gald you posted.

I've had trouble from them before but lots of others on here have been saying that they've solved their problems. So I was tempted to give them another shot. But not now. I'm gonna stop reading any posts with splash in the title and unsubscribe to their weekly email offers.

I agree.

I ordered Superman and Lion King a couple of weeks ago (tempted by tehir low prices).

I have not received any so far.

I wrote them an e-mail and hey presto, they sent me a confirmation that Superman was being dispatched.
No mention of the Lion King, so I wrote them another email to which they responded saying it had come back into stock - no mention of sending it though.

I suspect they have a really bad admin system which means they cannot cope with the volume they must be getting.

I won't be buying from them again - I would rather pay more and get a prompt service !

I ordered 4 dvd's and a pack of dvd+r's on jan 22nd the blank disc came in 4 days but still not got any of the other order :) I can only assume they don't stock anything older and have to order to meet orders :)

I ordered some of those blank dvd r+'s too...assuming they are Mirror Platinum's?..... I reckoned the price with various vouchers was worth a try....ghastlly discs.

I've only one item outstanding...three weeks in fact.....still someway off from the sixteen week wait I had last year.....Ordered October 2002 received February 2003.

Hi all

Thanks for all your feedback, its appreciated.

Will post the outcome when it is resolved, as of yet no reply to my email.

They must have changed their email system because when i sent the email it came back with a link to click & then resend the email, maybe the new system has directed the emails straight to the recycle bin, in order to save them time reading them, they can then spend more time fobbing you off with tales of stock shortages at suppliers & changes in suppliers.

If the company that i work for operated like this i would have no job & therefore no money to spend on dvds, but maybe this would be a godsend because then i wouldnt have ordered stuff from SPLASH -----LOL a vicious circle indeed ???????

If you can, phone them. I have always found their staff friendly and helpful. I have occasionally cancelled orders over the phone when I have got fed up waiting for things, and this always happens within 24-48 hrs of my request - I get an email confirming refund, and within a couple of days, it shows up on the online statement.

I have had a lot of stuff from splash. They are about the slowest in the world, but they are rarely beaten on price.

It's worth a call if you can - they can then give you a rough idea of when to expect your goods. I gave up emailing them some time ago.

Perhaps they are a victim of their own 'success'. Reads the threads about how the £2.00 vouchers were bing combined with the £2.00 sale; that makes £4.00 of their low prices. OK, they are slow, don't respond to e mails too well - but what do you expect? I have ordered four during the discount period, thoroughly abusing the £2.00 voucher each time. Recieved two within a week or so, another on its way and one still to be sent. Don't go in to Splash if you want it next day - use them for their prices and plan in advance.

Phoning them will end up costing more than the dvd you bought on special offer.

Every time I call (even if it's bang on 9.30am when they open) there is a cue of at least 15-20 people in front of me and that phone number isn't a local call.

Unless you're on a package deal that gives you unlimited calls locally and nationally.

I tend to find mid to late afternoon is the best time to call

I ordered a stack of 14 DVDs from Splash two weeks ago for the princely sum of £48, using the £2 discount and £2 voucher for each.

It may take a while, but I'm sure they'll all get to me eventually. I have had three delivered in the first week and have had a further 3 'despatch' emails.

I htink that the combined £4 discount meant that they were a bit overwhelmed and have run out of some items.

At the price I paid, I'll be prepared to wait awhile. If they donlt drop on my doorstep tomorrow, it isn't the end of the world.

If you search this forum there have been moans about Splash for ages, so if you ordered recently you most likely were aware of their lack of speedy delivery. If you don't want to have to wait, buy them elsewhere and pay the extra cost.

Patience is a virtue :D (Whether or not I will still hold that view in a month or so if I am still waiting for some of the DVDs I ordered I donl't know - I'll keep you updated!)

The only DVD ive ever ordered from them (due to their bad press) was Last of the Mohicans which i ordered last week. And it arrived in around 5 days, so no complaints from moi. But i feel im definitely a minority player in the SplashDVD Game.

The item I'm waiting for was ordered last November !!!

Every time I've called (and got through after 20 or so minutes of waiting), the same bloke at Splash gave me the same routine
"We just received your item this morning and will ship it later today"

Yeh, right mate and my name is Sam Fox

That's how I feel too. If you're in a rush for titles, use somebody else! :smoke:

I don't have a video player anymore.
I have sent many replies to them through the "complaints" dept and sent e-mails to the one address available on the site.

I hammered the offers just before Xmas with the £2 + £2 system and all my disks came through except Crocodile Dundee which is OOP anyway (bit of a long shot that one). Refunds within a week, regular emails re out of stock items. They even replaced 2 Lion King sets nicked by the postperson. Well worth a wait to save ~£100.00. Won't be using them again until a similar offer comes along though.

Splash are an appalling company and the only time I received any sort of follow up service from them was when I got the Trading Standards involved. That eventually got me a refund of all the discs they said they had sent and actually hadn't.
Morph, The Trading Standards went in and shook things up towards the end of last year after a few of us got together on the DVdForums. Give Splash's local Trading Standards a call so they can dust off their file again and you'll get a better response!

I will never use them again regardless of how cheap they are. Ordered a game for my kids a few weeks ago and although they debited my card straight away nothing has come through so far. Their phone line is useless as your forever on hold.

Complete garbage.

I phoned today and got through (!). Not sure if I was fed a load of balderdash though. Was told I'd have to wait 10 - 14 days for my discs. I'm - for now - going to sit it out and wait but if they don't show by then will obv. cancel and never use them again.

Would any of their suppliers ever have a two-week lead time on popular stuff like "When Harry Met Sally" ? Or should I ditch them now and just wait the same two weeks for my refund ?

Mike.
