You know, whilst watching TV tonight I happened to be staring at my centre speaker during the adverts and thought to myself, "if my side speakers have little spikes to isolate the speaker from the top-plate, why don't I do the same for my centre speaker?"

I mean mine is placed flat on the upper shelf of my TV stand (a lovely Soundstyle effort). It's just sat there, flat on the stand, full 100% contact of the base on the glass shelf.

Has anybody done anything special with the placement of their centre speaker???

I built a shelf out of a couple of 90kg brackets, and a 18" x 24" x 1.5" (that's 46cm x 61cm x 4cm for anyone born after '71) piece of kitchen worktop covered in black cloth. My Def Tech sits on spikes which rest on spike cups (from AudioT: about £10 for 4).

The set up is good and solid (the shelf can support my weight) and stops resonances from the RPTV structure. The rear spike is elongated to aim the speaker down to ear height at the main listening position.

Stuart: Do rubber feet count as 'special'?
That's what mine sit on, on top of my 25" Panny, until I get a new Quadraspire AVQ stand and a 24" Xelos of my own.
