I have a pair of new Eltax Xtreme 400 floor speakers. What's the best type of spikes or stands to place them on, my floor surface is laminated wood.

Try isolation spikes and put each spike on a 2p coin to stop damage to the floor or get some pieces of granite cut to size and and mount the spikes on to the granite.

Have you looked into Vibrapods? http://www.vibrapod.com Stone's audio sells them. I use them on all my equipment and they would be brilliant on your floor!

Or if you're feeling really flush ... the combination of 2 metals and additional thickness in £2 coins really helps bring out that extra 2pence worth of sound quality from your speakers. The real audiophile solution!!
