Well it appears that Spiderman 4 is on, also, believe it or not so is Spiderman 5.
Two movies shot back to back with Tobey Maguire getting $50,000,000

The Lizard and Carnage are the names popping up as the villains for No.4

Expect to see Spiderman 4 in 2011

It's all over the web now.

The Hollywood News have it.

http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/artm...s-13160908.php

Tobey Maguire is said to be earning a whopping $50 million for the next two films in the SPIDER-MAN franchise. The films, numbers 4 and 5 in the movie series based on the popular comic-book hero, will also see Maguire allocated 'Father Time', which basically gets him early mornings and evenings off, to spend time with his 22-month-old daughter.

According to Times Online, we'll learn in the next few days as to whether Kirsten Dunst will return to the role of Mary-Jane Watson.

SPIDER-MAN 4 and SPIDER-MAN 5 will be shot back-to-back. The first three film's director Sam Raimi is also expected to return to helm the upcoming movies, set up at Hollywood studio Sony.

IMDB have started to write about it quite abit.

Still maintain he is the wrong choice

I will however force myself to watch them despite the disappointment that was Spiderman 3 if Kirsten Dunst is also set to make an reappearance

I thought the first one was okay.

The second was excellent, lots of action and great FX.

The third was poor and not a movie that I'll want to revisit that often if at all.

I'll all up for a 4h and 5th movie, why not.

Lets hope that they have learned from the third and that the studio don't messing with the production of the next 2 movies.

Personally I'm happy that Maguire and Raimi are returning.

I think Maguire is pretty good as Peter Parker, the thing they haven't got quite right is they should make him a little more wise cracking when he dons the Spidey costume. But besides that I think he's fine.

Raimi's direction on the whole has been excellent and the only real misfire is part 3 where it's obvious studio interference - or Avi Arad bowing down to rabid fan boys - forced him to include Venom, a character Raimi had no liking for...and boy did it show! I still maintain that there are good things in Spidey 3 - Sandman is superbly realized - but it is overcrowded and a bit of a mess.

From what I've read in a few interviews Raimi has said, or at least given the impression, that he would like to be involved with the films again if they just let him get on with it and didn't pressure him into storylines/characters that he didn't have any empathy for. I hope that's in his new contract!

As for rumoured new villains, I'd be really suprised if Carnage makes an appearance if Raimi has anything to do with it! (see above for probable same reasoning as Venom). I really hope they finally include The Lizard this time round, as they've already set up Doc Connors in the previous films. Other members of the old 'Sinister Six' would be welcome too: Electro, Kraven the Hunter or The Vulture. Raimi has mentioned The Vulture before and has apparently considered and even put the feelers out to Ben Kingsley for the part - perfect casting in my book.

J Jonah Jameson is sure getting more generous in his pay slips nowadays!

I like Maguire as Spiderman, would rather it be him than anybody else. There are days that I wished he wasn't Spiderman though. I sometimes wonder what kinda movies he would be doing now if he never had been Spiderman. He had movies like The Ice Storm, Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules, Ride with the Devil, Wonder Boys, all great movies and I miss movies like this that he hasn't been able to make because of Spiderman.

All those movies unfortuatly have a similar type of character that Maguire plays well and he would have had to have fleshed out more as his career went on, so may be Spiderman just came at the right time for him.

Maguire has only been in two other movies since becoming Spiderman, Seabiscuit and The Good German ( a small part ), but different from his other movies. At least he'll have at least another two movies out before we see the next Spiderman.

i read somewhere once that Jake Gyllenhall was going to don the spidey suit, due to Tobey Maguire injuring his back

before filming Spiderman 2.I think it's good he got his fitness back and went on to star in another 2 spidey films.

I can't see anyone else playing this role,i do however welcome the return for 4 and 5 to be made,as the last outing didn't do any justice to the franchise and to the character.

The storyline was compromised in Spiderman 3 due to some unneccessary action, maybe a way to fill in the plot holes:confused:
and there were to many villains who just lacked the emotive side of things..so :lease: go back to a winning formula.."If it ain't broke than why fix it"?

The real peter Parker was only a bit geeky at the beginning, but was cool after a few comics. Maguire is still geeky, and always will be. But you can't replace him, else it wouldn't be the same.

Hollywood is overdoing it with these comic book movies, I hope that they take a step back and make less comic book movies.

I'm not that big a fan of them myself. Batman and Spiderman are about the only two that I would sit down wanting to watch. I don't care much for Hellboy, Hulk and the others that I care so little for that I can't even think of their names.

I say bring on as many comic book movies as possible. You only live once guys! Come on.
Well they can make them and if I don't like the look of them I'll just avoid them. I guess they have to be made to get a good one somewhere.

I don't share the enthusiasm that other members of the forums seem to have. They appear to get great enjoyment from most these movies.

I think I'm just getting to old.

The Lizard just has to appear this time around, they've been setting it up for 3 films:)
I'm convinced he will show up!

I think Vulture is almost a certainty for one of the movies also. I hope they drop Carnage though.

I'd like to see the Shocker instead of Electro, a much better character and plain just more gritty.

Rhino would be good but a tad OTT maybe? :D

I can't wait tbh, love all the Spidey films

you haven't watched Iron Man yet, or have you? way cooler than spidey and much different to batman due to the "comic relief" rd jr. brings to the character.

i'm with LFC_SL, in spidey 3 i started to (carefully put) not really embrace the way maguire played parker any more, apart from all the other flaws of the film. yes, he should be portraying spidey way cooler by now, which - let's face it - he will never be able to. is it sam raimi again for 4 and 5? hope not, because i think the franchise needs some fresh blood infused - desperately.

True Maguire in Spiderman 3 was the same as in 1&2, playing the flaws and not moving on but I feel thats mostly the fault of the script and the director who decided to go with the material that they had.

As for Ironman, yeah I seen that. Thought that it was..., okay, nothing great. I thought that Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark well, but that character had more to play on as he had been a wise ass party animal. Didn't think much of the actual Ironman though.

hm, i really enjoyed the "man-made" superhero as opposed to the insect bite, physics experiment gone wrong, or just alien (man from krypton) induced super powers. as for the suit, loved it and the flying scenes.
but that's variety of taste for you - nothing wrong with that.

I lost all respect for Raimi thanks to his spidey 3 effort

Wanting to do it all but ending up providing a film that was neither here nor there. And
a butler that allowed 1.5 films to elapse before telling his boss spiderman did not kill his father

My flatmate says he did it deliberately so he would not be asked to direct another film and/or he was getting paid handsomely regardless...

i totally agree. Apparently, Marvel are going to create a whole movie series about the Avengers. They've already done the incredible hulk (the recent one, not the crappy one from a couple years ago) and Iron Man (end scene after the credits revealed all). Should be Captain America next im guessing.

Will be awesome if they get some fresh faces to play characters instead of the ones we're used to

There are making a Thor movie as well.

I'd like to see the Sinister Six in Spider-Man or when Spidy tried to join the Fantastic Four.

Or

Spider-Man vs Super-Man with Doc. Oct.+Lex Luthor as bad guys.

We love our comics and super-heroes.

Spider-Man swings onto the musical stage in 2009?

Hot on the heels of the confirmation that Tobey Maguire has signed on to appear in two further cinematic instalments of the Spider-Man franchise, Marvel Comics has announced that a Broadway musical featuring the character could be on the way.

Marvel has been working on the project since 2004, and hopes it will be ready for previews next year. Bono and The Edge from U2 have been approached to write the music for the show, with The Lion King's Julie Taymor set to direct.

A staged musical version of the webslinger's adventures appeared at Universal Studios in California, while 1972's Spider-Man: From Beyond The Grave and 1975's Spider-Man: Rock Reflections of a Superhero were both musical interpretations of Spider-Man's life and times.

It'll have to be swing music.:)
