Well my R1 Superbit version had quite a poor pic quality.

Would be interested too to find how the R2 compares.

i've just ordered mine from Play.com for 10 quid.. just bought a new plasma tv (panasonic 42PE50) and want a DVD with exceptional picture quality, so that I can impress my mates.. :)

I remember seeing Spider man being played on a plasma at Comet and it looked pretty impressive - i'm sure that was a non-superbit version, so i'm hoping the superbit version of Spiderman 2 will be good enough to do justice to my brand new plasma... :)

Also ordered House of Flying Dagger dvd, seen a few clips of it on tv and the picture looks very colourful..

I have the R2 Japanese Superbit and it is very good, much better than the standard version IMHO, if the UK version is the same then you definitely will not be dissapointed.

interesting, from my personal setup, my R1 spiderman 2 superbit is one of the BEST dvds in terms of PQ that i own. All the reviews on the internet would agree.

If your projector, plasma/lcd/projection tv is set to 'cinema' mode and hooked up to ur dvd player via component/hdmi out set on progressive/16:9 mode the picture should be superb.

I'd categorise the R1 Superbit picture quality as one of the best DVDs I have.

I find it incredibly grainy. From chapter 18 onwards it improves a bit, but still a tad grainy.

The two dvd's I own with the best picture quality are the newly released ROTS and my R3 i-Robot.

    I hated my R3 I Robot!!

    Re Spiderman and bit rates

    Spiderman 2 R2 5.71
    Spiderman 2 R2 jpn SB 7.16
    Spiderman 2 R1 SB 7.26

I seem to remember quite liking the jpn one. I will have to have another look. Hadn't realised we now had a PAL R2 SB as well.

Well the PAL SB should look better as it has almost 100 lines more resolution, yes?

i got this as well and i find it does look grainy.

i havent seen what the normal region 2 version is like but i wasnt impressed. i think they are saving the best stuff for the blueray version.

its strange as if i compare it to i,robot then picture quality to me is the same and i,robot isnt even superbit!

well the only plus i guess was that it was £9.99.
