I got my lad this for christmas and we decided to watch it last night. I proceed to take the wrapping off and then open the case - but I could not open it as their is some sort of red tab locking the case shut.

I ended up using a knife to cut the box open and was not very happy - I think i will take it back to Asda tomorrow and get a new box!!

has anyone else had this problem? and if so, how is the box suppose to open?

    cheers

Isn't that lock s'posed to be removed at the store?

I think it's an anti-theft device. Looks like it was left on by mistake.

Had something similar on the re-released region one special edition of "The Untouchables". I was about to resort to a hammer and chisel until my better half figured out the clasps on the case.

Do the studios not want us to watch the discs we've bought, or something...?

Wanted to jump on the back of this one and inform you that my movie disk was faulty.
Again, ordered for my lad and went to play it Xmas night for him. Towards the end when the 2 were fighting the disk kept skipping or the picture was breacking up.
Tried the disk on a few other players in the house and the same ting happend.

To cut a long story short I contacted Amazon on Boxing day and on the 28th a new Spiderman 2 arrived. Just got to send the faulty on back.

    Thanks Amazon.

This is a security device which is designed to destroy the disc if not removed by the in-store machine.

Lost count of how many times I've had to tell the dimbo behind the counter in various stores what it is, and have them remove it, after they've bagged it with tab intact.
