Speed dropped 50%

Hey guys, our usual download speed on speed test is 12mb, however it's dropped to between 5 and 6mb now. This has only happened since someone accidently unplugged the modem/router. We plugged it back in exactly the same as it was and our speed is half what it was.
Any solutions?

well i never had this problem where if powercut or someone turned off by accident that speed drops

you best try putting in the test socket to see if speed improves back up

Your ISP shouldn't knock back your speed after just 1 disconnection and resync.
If however they see something like 10 resyncs in 1 hour, they will almost certainly reprofile you to a lower speed.

If you can access your router logs you may also get a clue as to what has been happening.

Do the test socket check as suggested.
If you still get the same results you may need to take this up with your ISP (who in turn may need to take it up with the physical line provider, often BT Openreach who you cannot normally contact directly).
