Can anyone point me at a manual or site that contains the specifications of these sub-woofers.

Unusually it is the top end capability that I'm interested in. I have some Sony satellites which look nice but only go down to 120Hz. I'm looking to replace the sub which came with them because it barks rather than rumbles.

It's only for movies, not loud and not expecting Hi-Fi. I expect that virtually anything will be an improvement over the Sony but was wondering whether I will be left with a hole in the frequency range between the sub and the satellites.

Any one know what the frequency ranges of the Vita's are - I've checked the BK site but couldn't find that info.

Also interested in the CHT-8 and the Elac 101 (the latter because of the quoted frequency range)

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Thanks, but as I said, I have already visited the BK site and found that it doesn't give any information on frequency range.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Of course I will email/telephone them. I just thought that as they appear to have a strong reputation on this forum then someone here would know the answer.

    Cheers,

Sorry, didn't read your post properly...

The Ruark 50 is the same as MJ Acoustic 50.

mhuk05 - thanks for the info

Did this two days ago - so far no reply - these specs must be a closely guarded national secret!

    Cheers,

Yes I noticed that - and I also note that mkuk05 said that the Ruark 50 and MJ 50 are effectively the same thing.

This leaves confused because BK have stated that the Vitas only go to 120Hz.

Also assuming that the Vita 50 = MJ Acoustic 50 Pro is there an MJ equivalent for the Vita 100.

It certainly isn't the MJ Acoustic 100 Pro as that is a very different beast. The MJ Acoustic 100 Ref looks more similar and that does only go upto 120Hz.

Anyone have a website or contact details for Ruark?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

    Hi nheather

Effectively they are the same beast, by changing a few caps and resistors on the Vita 50 will raise the frequency to 240Hz. I think I did state in my email to you that we could adjust the upper roll off to suit your needs but the silk screening on the front panel could not change. so Effectively you would have a panel that reads 120Hz and an upper roll off at 240Hz.

    Dan,

    Thanks for the response.

So for clarification, are these correct

    (a) The out of the box top end for the Vita 50 is 120Hz
    (b) The out of the box top end for the Vita 100 is 120Hz
    (c) The Vita 50 can be modified to increase the top end to 240Hz
    (d) The Vita 100 can be modified to increase the top end to 240Hz

I did see the comment in your email about being able to make a hardware modification to change the upper roll off but I must admit that I did dismiss it because I assumed that it would be chargeable bespoke modification - is this correct?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

    Hi Nigel

    a) Yes
    b) Yes
    c) Yes
    d) Yes

It would be a bespoke modification but there would be no charge
