Hi,Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me with my predicament....
i am currently using an old sony str-db940 reciever along with the Energy Take 5.1 surround sound speaker package and i need to replace the 2 rear speakers(My rear right is buzzing loudly, and i thought it best to replace both)
i need a pair of 8ohm speakers that would do the system justice(i'm not too sure of what details you would need to know to help me,but just ask and i'll see if i can get the info for you.
Many thanks for even reading this
P.S i spose i should say they are satellites wall mounted

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer to see if you can still get them? IIRC they're an American brand that isn't exactly huge over here but is pretty good?

They may be able to supply replacements or even repair yours? Failing that, i guess these would work? http://www.energy-speakers.com/v2/products/product-page.php?id=35

The make of the rears doesn't have to match the fronts- just buy some satellites that you like the sound of.

    This is a bipole speaker:

    http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=MORD-SHORT-903I-CAL

    These are monopole speakers:

    http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=WHAR-9.0-CHE
    http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=WHAR-8.1SE-BLK

Just examples not a recommendation (although I have MS903s as rears and think they do a good job and you don't need a stand- they hang from a screw in the wall) and make sure they're front ported (if they're ported).

If you'll consider used or ex-demo there'll be some bargains here:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248991

otherwise visit some shops for a demo or try the usual online suspects.

Decent brands for around £100 inc. Canton, Mordaunt Short, Monitor Audio etc. etc.....

    Good Luck :)
