hello,

i dont know where to begin but i need a small video camera i.e small enough to roof mount on a car for streaming not recording in particular. the specialist bit comes into play as i need at least an effective 1/5 or 1/4 mile zoom with decent detail. i intend to fit my drivers side sun visor with a screen where the camera will stream long/mid distance footage that i can quickly look up at, in order to forsee any incoming or stationary problems in the distance whilst driving at speed.

anyone know of a long range cam that is small and can stream i.e a webcam style thing but with a real world long zoom ??

please help so i can get this project underway thankyou

IMO your best bet to film in a car is to either mount a camcorder on the dashboard or use a bullet camera connected to a camcorder with AV-in - do a search on the forum for 'bullet cam' as this has been covered many times in the past.

The problem is that on a moving car any recording/streaming at high zoom will be totally unwatchable IMO as the the camera shake will just make you feel sick and I don't think that any consumer products will have good enough image stabilisation to compensate. You will just need to keep a wide angle shot, and even this will be shakey at high speeds.

Mark.
