Speakers Popping

Hi

I have a set of Bose Companion 3's Series II hooked up to my iMac. Recently, I've noticed a popping sound coming from the speakers. When I notice the popping sound, there is no audio being played through the speakers. I've checked all the connections and everything's tight. Anyone got any ideas?

Mobile phone? Any other device that could cause interference through the speakers?
Your fridge switching on (or any other power hungry appliance) if they are all plugged into the same socket feed from your mains? BTW - I put my fridge into a power protector to solve this issue with my Tag amp.
Bad connection in the cable from the iMac to the speakers?

There are so many things it could be.
