Having just demo'd the Mission FS1, Tannoy FX5.1 and Elac Cinema 1 sub/sats I've decided that they are too much of a compromise when it comes to music - although the Elac's were pretty close!

It was brought home when the Mission's were compared back to back with a set of Infinity Alpha's and it was then quite clear that there was a lot of detail missing that I wanted!

Size is still a problem (oo-er!) and am looking at bookshelf size fronts/rears, which will be wallmounted (fronts at 45 degs) and will be restricted by depth (ideally, less than 20cm).

The initial question is how to spend my budget. There seems to be a number of options.....
    • Spend it evenly on a set of separates e.g. Monitor Audio Bronze
    • Spend it on a package, such as Eltax Cinemaxx
    • Spend more on the sub (Velodyne 10) and less on the fronts/rears/centre (Kef Cresta)

Any views? Would the last option be a waste of a, reportedly, great sub?

    Receiver? Marantz 4300
