Hi all , I purchased a pioneer home cinema system package which i'm very happy with watching films but i have a lot of music dvds now and the small speakers give no depth to the music.
My question is will it hurt my amp if i wire my hi-fi speakers up to the front left and right sockets instead of the two smaller ones. they are from a sony midi system. My amp is 280 watts and has seperate 110 watt sub.
If I did this is there anyway I could have them wired to my hi-fi and my amp so I can use them for either my hi-fi or amp without having to keep changing the wires over.
    any help much appreciated.

Does the AV amp have pre-outs for the front speakers? Then you can connect those to any free line input (e.g. AUX) on the stereo amp. The front speakers connect to that and thus no need to switch cables, just the input at the (stereo) amp.

    Gooner, sorry felt guilty

I would not risk what you are proposing, as the chance of getting signals from both wires is there, and I'm not sure what it would do to a speaker.

My system uses the approach described by Reiner, pre-outs to the aux of the hifi amp.

Is it easy to list what outputs you have from the home cinema box to see what other options might appear?

Just to clarify: I mean line level connections, not (amplified) speaker connections.

@Bonesy: yes, I was retrenched last year November. Now I work for a small company in Taiwan, same line of business actually.
