As Kazman said, but add a BK Elec XLS200 for £280 as well. Slightly over your budget but should make an awesome sound :)

The Castles do have a good rep, I haven't heard them yet though, if space is an issue, they would also be a good buy.

The Mordaunt Short's have a Sub built into both floor standers :)

If you need more Bass, it may be an idea to add the subs mentioned above (The BK and the MS309).

It would be better to check out the Subs already in the system first as these should meet THX select specification.

You'd need a 909 at least to make any worthwhile difference to the bass performance- Ironically the very first two prototype 309's used 502 amps.....
The subs in the pack are indeed certified although the 502 is certified as a whole as an active floorstander (we think the only one with a THX certificate although I don't know for certain).

I was going to mention the MS909, but that was going to take the budget too high.

I think the Subs that are built into the floorstanders should be enough, as far as I know, extra MS909 subs were used at the Bristol Show only due to the size of the room. The MS909 would be a great addition later on, but for now, I think the THX Select package would be a great buy.

You need to be quick though, and phone around a few stores to make sure they have them in stock before venturing down.

The castle compacts are 999, I'd spend the extra on upgrading the front pair of compacts to the castle pembrokes which are their small floorstanders. It will give you a better sound system for music.....

The finish and build is absolutely gorgeous, leaves the KEF's and such far behind...

Spent an afternoon demoing these and others at the weekend and my bank balance is the lighter for it (stirling fronts, Bastion centres, compact sub/rears). Oh boy does that hit.....
