I am currently in the process of wiring my house for multi-room sound. Is it better to keep speaker wire runs as short as possible (and have a long cable between pre and power amps) or long speaker runs (with a short cable between pre and power amps)?

I am going to be using the QED Systemline products - anyone had any experience with this products (or recommendations for others)?

All's i know is that cable for the fronts should be of equal length, and like wise for the rears. Not sure if it matters(but not certain) how long they are as long as the length is the same. I use QED Silver anniversary, works for me.
