 why is it neccessary to have different volume settings for a 5.1 system , for each speaker?surely they would be out of sync if say the rears were louder than the fronts, or the centre was louder than the rears etc. i was bored 2 day and have been reading my amp book, the factory presets are all 0 so why isnt that good enough?

I don't understand the question!! Speakers have different sensitivities and rooms are different sizes so speakers need to be amplified at different levels to hit the ear at the same volume.

Also, speaker distance from the seating position - it takes time for sound to go from the speaker to your ear, may be small but it does affect the perceived sound received.
