Speaker upgrade time

Brilliant, I got mine from Amazon as I couldn’t for the life of me find a way to buy from the Q Acoustics website.

Certainly is a bargain. It makes financial sense as you wont lose as much as a bk xls200 if you sell it as long as you keep it in fantastic condition with all the accessories and box.

I don't think there's any better subwoofer packing all the technology (dsp digital amp, class d, etc.) brand new, with warranty, delivery included for less money. It's probably one of the best for under £200. A new bk xls 200 in the same finish is more than double the price delivered from the manufacturer but no where near double the performance, trust me i have owned a bk xls200.

It must have been fate to end up with these speakers, the centre fits under the TV with literally a few mm to spare , absolutely perfect. I'll get rid of the onkyos either side of the TV when I get some alternative Atmos speakers but at the mo I'm using the upfiring speakers on the onkyos. I'll probably move the sub to the other side of the speaker stand next to the cabinet, it's a lot deeper than I realised. Chuffed how it all matches the cabinet though 👍

Looking good @zAndy1 a great matching set. I'm super chuffed with mine too.

smart looking setup, all the grilles matching perfectly.

The gloss black finish on the sub looks nice. i wish i went for black to match the gloss black cabinet i bought later.

which courier company was your sub delivered by? im thinking i might buy another 2070 and run two before they discontinue.

Looks good. Bring that centre forward so that the front is sitting proud of the edge of the shelf by around 25mm. That will help eliminate unwanted reflections off the cabinet top. Audio will also be helped by throwing down a rug in front of the cabinet.

Yeah I did wonder about doing that with the centre, will do it tomorrow and will put a rug on the shipping list 👍

I would also buy few wedges as in rubber door stoppers under the center channel. One at each side to angle it shooting upwards where your ears are, now it´s bit too low. You also get the decoupling effect from your cabinet. And naturally run your setup again when you move the speaker plus remember to manually tweak the settings after Audussey as they might not be correct. If you buy rug, get wide enough so it covers the main channel area aswell.

Good tips. Black to match. Are they long enough and is the angle right...

I'm so happy with the sound I'm getting now without running Audyssey setup that part of me is scared I'm going to make things worse by running it! Been waiting for our rug to arrive before running it , that's coming today so I'll probably run it later when the rug is down and see what difference it makes but it's hard to see how it can get better really. I know it can obviously as these are relatively cheap speakers still but my god the difference between these and that crap Onkyo package is unbelievable, even the wife is impressed :)

I'll tell you what, this 2070si sub is bloody impressive. Watched Extraction on Netflix yesterday and there's a lot of gunshots etc and they had a really nice slam/weight to them. Very happy with the bass from the sub so I think my decision to restrict the sub budget to £200 and go for that sub has been vindicated. I'm sure there are better subs out there but for £200 the 2070si is a bloody bargain 👍

Excellent news.

I am really pleased with my set up which is similar to your own. I can highly recommend the 3010 as rears if an option to you if you have space. Tonally and visually they match nicely.

Yeah they're on my radar but no rush at the moment and I'm guessing the wife might not approve as I suspect they'll be quite a bit bigger than what I've got now and my sofa is right up against the back wall that the rears are on and the 3010s aren't exactly small.
Higher priority really is sorting Atmos out as I'm really not convinced my system is doing a good job when it comes to Atmos, I never feel like I'm in a bubble of sound . Seen some eltac upfirers I might try or might go the whole hog and get some ceiling speakers , seen some polks that look good and aren't that expensive , obviously it's just the hassle of getting them put in the ceiling and running speaker cable to them though but I suspect it would be worth it..

I'm in the same boat too. I'm in a bungalow so ceiling speakers are an option or maybe these positioned at ceiling firing down. Wharfedale D300 3D Black Surround Speakers (Pair) - Satellite / Surround Speakers - AV Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists
I think I can only get 5.1.2 out of my Denon X2500.

I'll tell you what, one very nice and for some reason unforseen bonus arising from this speaker upgrade is that I'm now listening to a lot more music than I ever did before. Streaming from Tidal good god it sounds good, like goosebumps good and for someone like me with tinnitus to be getting pleasure from listening to music again is really nice. These speakers for what they cost (the q acoustics 3020i and 3090ci and yes the sub) are bloody amazing value for money and have totally transformed my system. Over the moon

Jumping on old thread here tempted to get this sub how are you still finding it? As for Atmos speakers(if you haven’t already got some) can’t go wrong with the Cambridge audio minx m12 I have them for front heights sound superb

I'm very impressed by that sub, it's very solid , it packs a punch and it's a bargain price (well it was when I bought it), surprised it's not discontinued now though? Yeah I've got the Cambridge audio minx M12 for front heights, I can't say I've ever really heard much coming from them to be honest. It's an odd one Atmos , I still don't feel like I've got mine right cos I never really feel like I'm in a bubble of sound but I don't watch movies very often to be fair and haven't really concentrated very much on that aspect of my systems performance. Maybe I need to do some tweaking , will have a look at it. Any tips appreciated 👍

Yeah it’s still available on the Q Acoustics website it white only though I have white speakers anyway haha as for Atmos how do you you have your speakers setup? Mine are directly above the front left and right speaker as high as they can go to the ceiling then angled down to the MLP(main listening position) let my AVR do the calibration tbh you probably won’t notice it as much as you think I’ve found it’s only subtle in some films if you haven’t got it get blade runner or the sequel they will give your speakers a work out really good Atmos discs them

I also have the CA speakers for front height atmos .Although the bubble effect is talked about what I feel I get is the whole wall is the sound as it not only comes from the FCR but also from ceiling level. It adds the height dimension to the sound as opposed to just directly FCR.

I think the bubble comes with 4 atmos speakers, two front and two rear.
