    Hello...

Well I now have a Dv88+ and a Onkyo 898 7 Channel Amp.. and I reckon now I want to start looking at upgrading my speakers...

Currently I have a mission setup, M74/M73/77c1.. I want to get a good quality set of speakers for both Movies and Music.

Rather than replace everything in one go.. I am looking at sorting out the front 3 and I will continue to use the M74's as Surrounds (not going to 6/7.1 yet).

So any suggestions... up to a limit of £1000 for the 3 speakers ?

Or maybe with my DVD/Amp would a sub/sat setup like the Gallos's be worth considering (I am sure the wife would like the small speakers?)

    What do u suggest ?

    Thanks

    Matt

I can recommend Ruarks. Not sure you can get 3 contemporarys for a grand but you could get close if you found some x-dem. Audition Preludes and Dialogue 2. I have yet to find anything I like more in the price range. Alternatively you could run Epilogues as mains which I have done for a year or so. Lovely little speakers and worth a listen.

    Matt,
Just out of curiosity, what do you feel is wrong and right with the missions, its on my shortlist of sorts of a sub £800 5.1 speaker set up, so any feedback would be great... (I was looking at the M74i's/M7C2 centre etc)...

Honestly... there is probably nothing really wrong with the Missions.. They are good speakers which do not cost too much..
I Have had them for a couple of years now and as I have been upgrading the rest of the system, then I start looking at upgrading the rest..

As it is I think I should be looking to sort out a decent sub (and pay off the amp) before I start buying more kit :)

I really just would like a quality speaker which sounds and looks great.. to complement my other kit... Quite tempted by the Gallo's which would then allow me :

    1. Remove the 4 floorstanders from the Front Room
    2. Impress the wife (maybe)
    3. Get it all professionally installed, cables hidden etc etc
    4. Prepare me for the step to a projector - funds allowing.

Also as I have a 7 Channel amp with a second Zone.. I may keep/Purchase a pair of better floorstanders to use for Stereo music only on top of the Gallos. Though at the mo this is all a pipe dream :)

If you have any questions on the Missions ask away.. Always owned mission speakers since I started this hobby!

    Thanks

    Matt

Probably not cheap. Proac's normal standmounters start at around £600 per pair, so these satellites will be around, maybe, £250 each. Plus the sub you are probably looking at around £2000, could be even more. Should sound very good as the other Proac speakers I've heard are brilliant. Superb wood finish too. :)

I hope you aren't just converting Euros to British Pounds. UK dealers are sure to fleece us with their mark-ups  .

I doubt Proac do online sales Matt :(

Well... I cannot believe Lowrider was quoting a Euro Price.. I mean thats what 6/700 quid.. so even with a mark up (if thats what he was quoting.. a grand seems very very resonable for that set..- if they sound any good that is :) )

    A very confused

    Matt

P.S there seems to be very little info on the web about this? Though on a Aussie website the set was quoted at $9000 ??? (Aussie dollars of course)

No, I meant he saw them at around 1600Euros in Portugal and converted that down to £1000. ;) Still seems awfully cheap for Proac, esp if the sub is included. Mission Cinema 72 + sub works out at nearly £1000 and the Proacs should eat 'em for breakfast!

I recommend Tannoy Revolution R3's with matching Tannoy Revolution Centre. Cracking speakers for music and movies and beautifully finished too. They are reduced to around £360 for R3's (from £550 last year) and the centre is around £200.
