What's your budget, room size, preference for style/bookshelf/floorstanders?

You will be pushed to find ANY speaker set that would sound good for £100.
As a minimum look at these http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=TANN-FX5.1-BLK or one step up http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=KEF-KHT1005

Ok, please don't think I'm really thick, but do I need a home cinema system with the amp? I have a dvd recorder. do speakers connect to dvd or TV?
As someone once said to me 'Can't you even read a map? 'To which I replied 'No, can you read music, I can!'
A wise person knows they know not!!

you will need to buy an amp, unless you like to have speakers which dont have any sound.
