I have a set of Eltax symphony 8:2 floorstanders that I am using as my main front L/R and which sound good but dont look great alongside my Sagem 45. My question is can I put these speakers on to a low speaker stand to raise them to the same height as the TV (would need to raise them approx 250mm), would this degrade the sound or are the spekers too large for stands?? This is purely for asthetics!!

There's no reason why not as long as you secure them properly so that they can't be accidentally knocked over. Putting them on stands will certainly change the sonic properties though as the drivers will be in a different position in relation to your listening position - there's as much chance this will be a good thing as a bad thing. :)
